That wasn't really the problem tonight, I didn't think we did any shithousing or barging defenders or anything tonight, complete opposite to Saturday, passive all night, free headers every set piece, letting players run off them. If we'd played anything like we did on Saturday we'd have won that game

This.

The difference was stark - Saturday, we got to them with the ball, gave them no time. Tonight, we stood back, bent over and took the bum gobbing.

Shameful.

As good as the wing backs were on Saturday, they were bad tonight - Drewe in particular utterly roasted. That is the standard of our youth team.

Gutless, directionless. The players came over after the game and apologised, but so what?

Still feel she'll shocked.

Can we go out yet?

Reminded me of the 0-5 reverse at Southend under Gregory. Absolute sh!tshow from start to finish.

Bare bones.

Agreed. The way this club is going we are heading the same way as Southend towards the bottom of the Conference.

Whatever you say in mitigation, this is up with the worst results in my QPR life. I wasn't sure we would get anything tonight...but this has left me reeling ; and I haven't felt like this for a long time. The "disaster" of relegation, may be the only way to focus minds on the shocking state the club is in. I would rather be relatively competitive in L1,than suffer another season like this. And deep down, we all know we are always going to struggle in this !eague...without a change in our fortunes off the pitch. Feels like a Rubicon moment for me tonight. Utterly ashamed and depressed in equal measure.

At least we can put to bed this romantic notion that our academy prepares players for the first team. If ever we needed that to be true then now was to be their time.

Kakay league 1 standard
Shodipo league 1/ 2 standard
Drewe national league, maybe 2
Sinclair no where next ready for the championship
Mahoney national league, not big enough
Gubbins national league

Can't understand why Dixon Bonner hasn't had any minutes unless it's contractual. Could he be any worse than Dozzell?. I would love to know how much we paid for him (Dozzell)!!

We'll spend a couple of million on a player who may not fit the system next year, Richards.

Even writing this is depressing.

I really hope Paal and Laird are fit for Saturday.

Well we could try playing coherent football. Everybody loved Watford on Saturday, but if you play hit and hope, thud and blunder chaos ball then this is always likely to happen. Rely on adrenaline, barging defenders and shithousing refs, then you make the whole thing random. How about we try and keep calm and pass to our own players instead of just lumping it forward. Keep shape at the back and keep our heads going forward.

In fairness Dutch that’s like asking a plasterer to plaster a wall with a screwdriver. We don’t have the tools to play possession football. We’ve tried the patient approach for months and failed miserably.
Last night was basic errors . Horrendous defending on levels.
Expecting a big response on Saturday. Wouldn’t surprised if we got it.

I didn't, but people did.

I stood with my arms out as if to say "wtf"? A few of them put their hands up as if to say sorry.

... and that is the sad thing, they DO really care. The shame is that they are clearly not good enough...

Can we go out yet?

This is true, but I won’t hold out any hopes that Ainsworth will change the way he wants his team to play. I haven’t checked but believe he was part of the old Wimbledon team before MK Dons were formed.

Morale is at rock bottom and the club has half a squad of sick notes, is trained by coaches who have failed to get the players fully fit and prone to muscular injuries.

Will it get better, I doubt it. The teams at the bottom will gradually make up the points deficit and we still have to play Birmingham and go back to the NW to play Wigan and later on to play Burnley (joy of all joys there then).

It's not a romantic notion, more like a pragmatic one. The loan players are never fit and don't tend to put their foot in when it matters, so we may as well lose whilst developing our own players. Drewe was superb on Saturday, and abysmal yesterday. He's only had 3 games, so at least he will learn a little. Our player, he learns = good news. Tim having another shocker - of no use to us.

Armstrong has shown more than enough to show that he could be a Championship player and a damn good one at that. Needs to play more.

How do we come back from this ?

Beat Birmingham on Saturday.
How do we do that.?... fk knows.

Saturday is a huge test for my unbeaten run. Again!

After Watford, and with Birmingham coming up, I’d have tried to freshen the Starting XI up for last night. Then again, his bench is light and options minimal. But hey-ho, everyone is a Pep Guardiola after the event!

That said, I’d start using live ammo in training.

It was woeful. There's no doubt about it.

But if anyone can pull this round it's Gareth. I'm seriously thinking some of these players have lost their nerve. If only we had fewer injuries we'd have to drop Dickie for a start. Conceding the penalty seemed to finish him off. We're definitely brittle mentally and we need to turn that round.

I'm not throwing in the towel. I didn't think we had a hope last Saturday but we won that. I think Gareth can get a much better performance on Saturday. We need to do our part too.

We're counting on you Saturday. Can't think much else will work.

To be fair if I was the manager I would have sent the same 11 out last night, thinking they would carry on the work rate. Possibly with Stef on the field first half we don't collapse that badly but who knows. I'm more concerned that Stef doesn't seem to be able to get through more than 35-40 minutes.

Saturday is the biggest test of the season. They absolutely have to come out and fight.

Never knowingly right.

No doubt someone will have posted this elsewhere - but, for me, tonight is soooooooo reminiscent of the 2000/01 season.

If you remember, inbetween the two 5-0 horrorshows at Preston and Wimbledon (Feb/Mar 2001?) were actually 2 'Watford-style' back-to-back wins against West Brom and Gillingham which made me think there was spirit there and we could be ok. Then came Selhurst Park, then the Fulham 'double-injury' game....

All seems very familiar tonight.

God, you're right. We beat Barnsley 2-0 and then scraped a flukey 0-1 at Gillingham. The Fulham injuries had already happened a few weeks earlier, though, last day of January. I think we all knew then we were cooked.

I know everyone wants to understandably draw parallels between 00-01 and this season, but I don't think it's the same. I don't think we're quite as hopeless now. For starters, we only won seven games all season 00/01 and those two you mention were the fifth and sixth. We weren't good at all, not for one game, at all, ever, other than possibly when we beat West Brom 2-0. We've already won eleven this season and - I know it seems a while ago - we have played well a few times.

I agree though that if we don't get the full backs, Chair and possibly one CB back though we will struggle to get out. We won't win enough with those two FBs/WBs. It's not for lack of effort but any manager with any brains will target Drewe and Kakay out of position. It's too easy. Desperately need a proper CB back to allow Field to relieve Dozzell too.

Obvious answer is to drop Dickie as his confidence is completely shot and is now taking up positions where he can't receive even a simple return pass, so in effect we are playing with 10, hence why Jimmy Dunne is having so many touches of the ball in matches (as he never hides)

However, that would mean moving Kakay to right sided Centre Back which I would not risk because of his poor positional play,

So,

I would persevere with a Back 3 of Field / Dunne / Dickie with Kakay and Paal (fit apparently) as Wing Backs,

Would then have Johansen (for his ball retention), Tim and Chair (fit apparently) in the 3 man midfield with Lowe and Dykes up top (or a combination of Dykes, Lowe and Martin)

That's exactly what it's like. This season feels most like that to me. We got 14 wins that season and we're on 11 now, we probably need another two. Just gotta scrape to the end of it and sort it out in the summer.
I totally forgot that Leeds came bottom that year.

Similar situation as to when Holloway joined us in February 2001, he couldn't stop us going down but Ainsworth possibly can. Whatever happens stick with Gareth, reset, rebuild and come back stronger next season.
We have great core support and community and we'll have a first class training complex.
We're probably at Loftus Rd for a good few years yet, so let's stick with it (as we always do) and be loud and proud.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean we're not all against you.

I don't dispute that Sinclair will be a quality striker one day. But he needed to go on loan this season not to play bit part performances because we were absolutely desperate.

Let's stop pretending Drewe will be anything other than a lower league or non-league footballer. I watch Gloucester City most weekend and I can tell you now that their fullbacks are of a higher standard than he's at.

But Ramsey, Hall & Co need him to play to protect their positions, as Warburton (and apparently Beale worked out on Day 1) found to his and the clubs detriment.

That's sadly the truth of the matter.

But what this season has really highlighted is the lack of quality, decision making and accountability behind the scenes.

No, it's not.
It's a rumour.

We have enough things to address without taking rumours and declaring them facts.
