Swansea City v Southampton : Matchday Thread 2022 TUES 4th JAN 21:41 - Jan 1 with 21963 viewsNotLoyal

It’s the FA Cup which may or not may or not go ahead. It’s a may or not thing, and in 2022, this is the way things work. It’s not even May. Or not.

The full build up to the game before it is called off will be here !

Simon Hooper will replace Referee Scott as of Tuesday 4th January.
We all love an FA Cup third round tie, it’s the one after the second round where all the big teams from every round up to the third round have won their games, mostly. However, now they become the small teams, which seems odd, some even call them minnows, which I think is a child fish. Some people are called ‘Min’ so if someone called ‘Min’ hadn’t paid their debts it would be a ‘Min owes’ me money situation, as Glen would say. Of course once the big teams become the small teams they do become of interest to the televisual transmission people, and if they do have any debts they can sometimes pay them off.

Or if two premier league teams draw each other these smaller big teams are generally ignored. This is because the BBC likes to have the premier league sides on the tv because they haven’t got any money like Amazon and Sky to pay for proper games. And if they did they would give it away to people like Jimmy Saville.

The bench looks far stronger than the team on the pitch.

It’s a risky selection but a brave one. If we can keep possession and defend well who knows. If we don’t and defend badly it could be a rout.

I want to win this one but if we are eliminated it won’t be the end of the world.

Be interesting to see the midfield dynamic without Grimes.

Cooper and Walsh shockingly out of their depth.

Cooper should have pushed it forward instead of trying to lay it off backwards. Silly goal

Absolutely. Why we persist with this "style of play" when we do not have players capable of doing so continues to bemuse me.

We can get away with it when opposition teams do not press us.

When they do, this is the result.

We have players barely League 1 standard being asked to play like Real Madrid.
They cant
Somebody needs to tell Martin this
If he wont listen then he should go and go tonight.

Hull are right now beating Everton

We deserve better than this fella

Not sure who this woman is but she's talking nonsense. The problem isn't that we're playing possession, it's that we're doing a very bad job of it. Midfield invisible. Strikers not offering.

It's not the "Premiership" either. Sponsors will be having a word if she keeps it up.

It's appalling.

There's no plan for when we get the ball in X area.

Players stand in their specific positions. No opposition players are dragged out of the way to create space for our midfielders.

Any "manager" can tell their players to pass it on the floor whenever possible. It's another thing entirely to coach those players to move effectively off the ball to enable the team to move up the pitch through the use of short passes.

I've seen nothing - absolutely nothing - to suggest Martin is capable of coaching players to play successfully this way.

Only Downes looks like he has some sort of idea as to what needs to be done.

It's embarrassing.
