Racist behaviour and a lack of club action 22:01 - Nov 20 with 38930 viewsaberhugh

The violent scenes today in the East stand are a disgrace and were instigated by a group who have in the past displayed openly racist behaviour. During the Cardiff game my daughter and I called out two of this group for shouting racist insults which were vile. Prior to this she had spoken to them about booing taking the knee to which the reply was 'It's political'
Following the game I e-mailed the club with detailed information about the racist behaviour of this group. There was also health and safety concerns regarding these people standing on seats and when we scored and falling on to supporters in front of them and injuring one guy.
I made it clear that I felt this behaviour would be repeated and some overt stewarding would be required with senior stewards present. If my suggestions had been implemented decisive intervention today when the flags were displayed would have prevented the violent scenes. I feel let down by the club and unsupported when tackling racism on the terraces. Lots of fine words before the Cardiff game have not been backed up by action to root out racists. The club must support the fans when they call out racist behaviour as well as their players. My wife tackled them today about booing taking the knee.
I exchanged a number of e-mails with people in the club and identified the problem and perpetrators. The club must now take action to stop this blatant racism and protect the health and safety of supporters. It is time they took seriously their duty of care to us and not leave it to us to police people's behaviour.

Racist behaviour and a lack of club action on 23:44 - Nov 22 by ReslovenSwan1

We were singing hymns and arias 'land of my fathers' ar hyd yr nos .

I m not sure what 'land of my fathers' refers to and there is some foreign stuff at the end of the song. Never understood it my dad was from Birmingham.

Do I really have to...Oh ok then...

Land of My Fathers...Mae hen wlad fy nhadau

Here you go, try singing that,

And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

We paid our weekly shilling for that January trip:
A long weekend in London, aye, without a bit of kip.
There's a seat reserved for beer by the boys from Abercarn:
There's beer, pontoon, crisps and fags and a croakin 'Calon Lan'.

And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

Into Paddington we did roll with an empty crate of ale.
Will had lost at cards and now his Western Mail's for sale.
But Will is very happy though his money all has gone:
He swapped five photos of his wife for one of Barry John.

And we were....................

We got to Twickers early and were jostled in the crowd;
Planted leeks and dragons, looked for toilets all around.
So many there we couldn't budge -twisted legs and pale:
I'm ashamed we used a bottle that once held bitter ale.

And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

Wales defeated England in a fast and open game.
We sang 'Cwm Rhondda' and 'Delilah',
damn, they sounded both the same.
We sympathised with an Englishman
whose team was doomed to fail
So we gave him that old bottle, that once held bitter ale!

He started singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

So it's down to Soho for the night,
to the girls with the shiny beads;
To the funny men with lipstick on,
with evil minds and deeds.
One said to Will from a doorway dark,
damn, she didn't have much on.
But Will knew what she wanted,
aye...his photo of Barry John!

'Cos she was singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

That's why Cardiff call it a rugby song.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It may help those who are too scared to confront people.
Hopefully if a report is made there will be a period of surveillance before an ejection or arrest is made.

I find it crazy the lengths people will go to to find someone saying something racist when the police can’t even find paedophiles and terrorists. It seems racism is becoming more and more the worst crime a human can commit.

One day, you’ll get stabbed by a black man, call him something, you’ll be the one arrested.

I reckon both will be arrested, maybe your "one day" will never come, or maybe it's already here.
I'm sure Dr P can tell us of accusations of racism that were made after an incident to try and justify that incident.

I agree with your first line but I also think it's crazy the lengths some people go to to deny racism.

If would hope that if someone in the East Stand acts as a pedophile or threatens an act of terror they will be reported and the club and police will act.
Your final sentence is either extremely infantile or you have marked your own card.

When you say they can’t find paedophiles what about Colin pitchfork this week ?
Utter nonsense, you should join up and help them out if your that intuitive. If it wasn’t for the brave work of the terrorist branches and specialist teams you would have something to moan about.

If you weren’t spread across a wide area that is.

Well, in the world of equality if I’m going to be stabbed, the gender or ethnicity of the attacker won’t matter.

Your final comment is absurd.

This has nothing to do with the loyalist aspect! It is the fact that certain fans do not like anything that isn’t welsh!

They’re facist views on all things British is the problem

As previously posted the greenhill jacks that flag the tri colour would be the ones with the problem if it was the Ulster flag but both flags have been there since beyond the millennium.

You keep burying your head in thinking it’s a problem on both sides because there isn’t a problem on our side! We couldn’t give a monkeys what flag is hung it’s their business, there’s only one set crying and causing trouble over a flag and after last Saturday I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a huge retaliation on the horizon for the attack on a small number of lads

You are more than likely correct.
This is the problem when people take sides within the same group of course.

As you know some people have no idea what this is all about.

Try living over here is my message then see what misery both of these sides have caused.
Thousands killed, maimed, injured, lives ruined, nobody in their right mind would support that.

And it has no place in football. And by that I mean both sides of this pathetic nonsense.

Your experience is shocking. Why should you move seat just because they don't want to confront the problem?

It's because relative authorities do nothing that people take the rules into their own hands. Then the police have to sort it out and sometimes the NHS too.

I hope this reporting system works and the club takes action when needed. I also hope we don't have idiots using it for false purposes.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Well you'd have to ask the people who got involved why they did to know for certain. Maybe I read it wrong but as has been pointed out union jacks have there for a while without issue and violence. But they weren't usually coupled with loyalist flags at home games nor has the provocation been a big thing. Maybe I'm reading it all wrong, but the response to sectarian flags and involvement in the club on here hasn't gone down well so if they're banned (I think they already are), at least something's come out of this.

As I say the union jack will have to be tolerated from now on for the sake of everyone at the ground, not just people directly involved in the incident Saturday but normal people who just want to watch a game. The club and team will end up suffering otherwise.

And the misery is religion based and even rudimentary knowledge of Irish history will tell one so.

I have policed a few Orange Lodge marches in Liverpool, where the chaps dress up in I’ll fitted second hand suits, hired bowler hats and the chav girls slip on their best Primark gear complete with their sashes.

Then, after marching through Catholic areas spouting some unfriendly bigoted phrases they then went into town to get bladdered .

Ban all marches should be a basic

The union flag has been there since the stadium opened and hasn’t had an issue

The issue has only started since it was hung in the corner on the east and only has it been pulled down when it has been left alone, not once have anyone spoken to these lads. The cowardly attack on Saturday will not be left as that and this has been caused by welsh nationalist trying to make a point!

There has never been any problems since this season!

Swansea loyal flag has been in attendance since the 80s not very game but certain games millwall, reading, cardiff, Luton to name a few in the last few seasons

Mine was up in the family stand 2 seasons ago with no problem whatsoever.

It says something about you if a flag really does cause you such an outrage

Well that's part of the point too - flags shouldn't be put in parts of the ground where the owners don't sit. You shouldn't have to sit in front of a flag you don't want there. Presumably the people who sit where it was hung in the Cardiff game (for the first time) weren't happy with it being there and I think they're well within their rights to request it being moved.. this goes for any flag and any fan.

Wales is a political construct, that's how countries come into being, by force of arms or by political construct. Many modern countries didn't exist "many centuries" ago. England itself was not a unified country until King Alfred started the job and he died before England became that country in the year 927, England is a political construct. Wales itself was a loose collection of independent Kingdoms and Lordships until the Act of Union in 1536. That's right Kilky, the English King, Henry VIII established Wales some 600 years after England was a country.

Maximus was of Spanish descent and he didn't speak for Wales because it didn't exist, no amount of your tomfoolery will change that. South East and South West Wales were tribal areas of the Silures and Demetae.

Macsen Wledig means land owner or Imperator and he left sharpish as soon as he thought he had a chance to be Rome's emperor. Did he ever come back kilky, do you know?
