Swansea City v Peterborough United : Matchday Thread 2021/22 AFTERMATH 23:09 - Oct 24 with 20949 viewsNotLoyal

The beautiful land of Peterborough, caught up in the Soke of Northampton, this antique replica of something yet to be discovered, in original terms, a town, in every day terms a dodgy toe nail hanging on to the cleft pallet of a donkeys bum.

Oh, it’s what we do on here, it’s our way of welcoming our opponents.

The Posh
Although the present club did not come into being until 1934, the 'Posh' name first came to the fore a decade earlier, almost certainly stemming from Pat Tirrel, player manager of Fletton United, a previous user of the present club's London Road ground, who announced in close season of 1921 that he was looking for 'Posh players for a Posh team' to compete in the Northamptonshire League (later the United Counties League). Fletton, previously known as the 'Brickies,' re-formed as Peterborough and Fletton United in 1923 and both nicknames were in use through the 1920s, although supporters complained that 'Posh' references were sometimes used by newspapers in a derisory manner. Peterborough and Fletton United folded in 1932, the present club was formed two years later and a Midland League debut against Gainsborough Trinity on 1st September 1934 was greeted with cries of 'Up The Posh' from the crowd.

Did you know ?
Victoria ( my heads in my arse) Beckham challenged Peterborough United registering their club nickname as a trademark in 1998 ? It obviously didn’t work as they are still called The Posh today, and she is a washed up old deckchair.

Celebrity gimp, VIctoria Beckham who thinks she is bigger than a whole community

The Posh
Peterborough United are a small club that do cock waving splendidly well. They will see this game as a cup final against the divisions ‘pass masters’ After many seasons in the Premier League the swans have been targets for teams to play above themselves when they visit Wales. Such is the way clubs hold Swansea in high esteem. If it wasn’t for that the swans would have won all their games. They are favourites to win this game for sure. The people of Peterborough land are called gimps, and the town itself is recognised as one of the worst town's to live in. Voted by the very people who live there. Peterborough is actually in Canada.

We are so much better so much more positive with Downes on the bench. That non penalty decision was one of the worst I've ever seen. 4-0 and then we are on for a bumper result.

Regarding the rugby , we got what was expected, nothing , it was men against very small boys I'm afraid .Our disciple was poor giving away needless penalties , couldn't win our own line outs and out thought and at times out muscled by a beast of a rugby nation. But all that is insignificant because although I like watching it and played it many moons ago the Swans come first and we did today .

Aided by yet another inept French Referee, who failed to send off a letter of the law clear red for a clear arm shoulder to Moriaty's head and a yellow against Beauden Barret for a deliberate knock on, two serious injuries to proven internationals and dubious penalties such as the ridiculous one against Adams and Wainwright for failing to move from ruck when he clearly did and then not penalise an All black for just lying at the back of a ruck and clearly protecting the ball.
Against a chucked together Welsh team missing at least 15 players, because the WRU are greedy B's, knowing full well that ERU wouldn't release players for the game.

Rightio then

I don’t buy the fitness thing either.

The change has been the scrapping of the short pass and turning to a mixed style. That is where most of our successful attacks have come from recently.

When he first came he clearly insisted we go short at every opportunity, even when in danger. 4% short passes we had in some games which is shocking. That has nothing to do with fitness.

It meant out attacks were slow, because it’s hard to get the ball up the field quickly with short passing, we were easily defended because the attacks were all unfolding in front of the opposition, it meant they could put pressure on us and know we had to try and play out of it and wouldn’t use the out-ball so could commit more men to the press.

He had to scrap it, and he did and have given him the credit for that. We were just getting punished every week. Although we still may see it for weaker opposition at home, this game has actually felt a bit short pass style like. Not as much as before but still up there I would have thought.

I’m thinking of the players who suffered from Covid. Hopefully they are recovered enough to maintain a full 90 minutes rather than the lack of a preseason.

I watched the match on Sky Sports New Zealand ( don't ask how) and even tey commented on how poor the ref was (shades of Brexit revenge maybe ) Clear red imo dangerous play on Moriaty without doubt and what made it worse he took an age to come to his decision. The All Blacks have always played right to the edge of "legality" and tonight was no exception but taking that aside they deservedly won at a canter .

Agree with that.

Thought he was reasonably decent when he came on. Positive on the ball when he had it. We weren't exactly bombing forward at the time.

Looks streets ahead of Cullen.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Agreed looked like a fish out of water. If he's not going to play up top, which currently he's not good enough too, his short passing game needs to improve dramatically. I'm not saying he can't improve but there is a lot of work to do.

His first shot is on target and gets deflected for a corner.
He then gets back to disposes an opponent.

They played a knocked together Welsh Team who give a good account of themselves for maybe 60 mins, they get away with murder always have, when you have a totally inept ref like todays the writing his on the wall, we mangled them in most of the scrums, lineouts weren't helped by All Blacks continually closing the gap that again the inept Ref failed to penalise apart from twice.
Not saying they didn't deserve to win, bit its a mitigated win.

He was playing directly in front of me and I was watching him on and off the ball. He has a lot to learn if he is going to play wide. Plus as I say he won't get a game up front with the 2 number 9s we have and Martin never plays 2 together.

Bennet had a go at him. Whittaker wanted the ball played ahead of him but Bennet wanted Morgan to track back towards him to be safe and defensive so didn’t make the pass and turn back to Naughton (I think).
Smith went up to Whittaker and said something like 'ignore him just go on the run forward if it’s on'. (Right in front of us).
I though Whittaker did well in his few minutes but his head did drop after the Bennet comment.

I liked Ncham's thumbs up to the fans when there was abig 'man on' shout from the East stand.

Made at least 3 decent passes, one an accurate cross field ball, looked decent enough to me, first appearance in the 1st team for age, but on a rare appearance he's deemed not good enough, my eyes are burning.

Naturally he should have come on for Piroe but obviously Obafemi needs minutes too and he's higher in the pecking order. In our formation failing that maybe he could have come on for Patterson. But at 3-0 up got no issue with experimenting him in an unfamiliar position. Didn't go very well but no harm in trying. Hopefully he goes on loan asap.
