Anyone had a decent 2020? 23:00 - Dec 31 with 3829 viewsqpr_1968

amongst all this doom and gloom, it would be interesting to hear if anyone has actually had a relatively good year.
new job, promotion, new house, getting rid of nasty neighbours, good health results, you get the drift.

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

Yes i guess so. Business is as viable as before the pandemic and i have a supportive landlord. Family is well. It could all be much worse.

Good thread qpr_1968 .I dusted off the golf clubs for the first time in 3 years and actually played a stunning round of golf .I had 5 birdies and 7 bogeys without any mulligans (free reload )or gimees (nasty little short putts picked up wink wink). It was out of the blue and my lowest ever by a mile .
Of course the following week I caught the fuc*ing virus and it all went downhill fast .Still that magic feeling still cheers me up.
I also found Chaterbuate while trying to find Hesgoal to watch the superhoops another pick me up

Yes, thanks for the thought. Good for our souls (stop it!) to be positive, if at all possible.

All my family are alive and well.

My daughter gave birth to my first grandchild on 2nd Jan so an amazing start for me.

Also been in a lot of pain following emergency treatment in Le Mans in 2019. In November I had the last of three operations to rectify the bodge job they did and now pain free for the first time since the accident.

A few friends and family caught covid but all got through it relatively unscathed so all in all, could've been a lot worse and am grateful for everything I have

2020 wasn’t all bad for me. Moved house in January before the baby arrived in February. The pandemic hit shortly afterwards which has led to a lot of uncertainty at work but fortunately the business has survived intact so far.

The silver lining to the pandemic (feels a horrible thing to say) is I’ve had the chance to spend a lot more time at home with the baby and family.

Good year for me. Bar 6 weeks or so worked through the Pandemic and really enjoyed it and saw some proper nice people doing nice things through the crisis.
Family and friends all well despite some catching covid so no complaints there.
Looking forward to 2021 with real optimism.

Look after yourselves guys, this wont last forever 👌

My work hasn't been too badly affected, online job board in the education sector. WFH all through the first lockdown, did a lot of walking and a few 5k runs, lost a stone in weight. Saved a lot of money from not going out. Best part though was my eldest son getting a first in mathematics from Bristol university and he has just secured his first job working in Kensington.

So,so. Came back to the UK from the US and now living full-time in the UK. Great to be near my family. Probably retire in the next 2yrs and thinking of getting a place in Spain (I have an Irish passport) so no obstacles for my wife and I.
Watched quite a bit of non-league football, which I enjoyed, starting to play golf and miss the R’s.
Miss some of the easy-living in the US, but will probably sell my properties in the US and use that to buy in Spain if I can get off my backside and sort out my stuff in the US.

When you are a pensioner it does not make a lot of difference other than your kids phone every day and you don't see your friends round your local club. Dog loves seeing me 24 hours a day.

Without wanting to sound smug or show off it's actually been a good year me and my wife. She gave birth to our first child a beautiful and healthy girl, and we bought our first home.

Good positive thread. Spent 5.5 months at home from Mid march until Sept. Home being 60 acres of dodgy land, but the weather was mostly great, so it was pretty idyllic. Income has not being adversely affected, no body close to me (that I'm aware of) has contracted the virus. So apart from not seeing close friends on a regular basis, 2020 was grand.

The year started to pick up for me from March 1st.That was the day after I last saw Qpr play live.
I only wish I knew where all the money has gone that I saved in train fares, beers and food from missing about 20 home games.

I had a meh year, on the plus side I’ve found I can work at home just as well as in the office so no commute and I can be more flexible if I fancy a round of golf.
Being in construction and mainly in health and education we’re as busy as ever.
Luckily nobody I know died with COVID.
On the downside had a skiing holiday cancelled and no foreign summer holiday but went to Wales instead and had a great time with the family (grown up and first family holiday for 5 years).
Boys walking weekend in The Lakes scheduled for June was also cancelled.
Hoping to go skiing in March to be away on my 60th, if not it’ll be there next year.
So all in all it’s certainly not been as bad as it could have been.

I thought my company was going to go under and I'd be out of a job but actually we drastically changed how we do business and I got promoted to Director for what I put in.
Ended up having a pretty decent year for the business in the end.
Now i'm worried about 2021 cuz i'm in Cali and the virus here is out of control.

Poll: Serious concern we'll double drop?

I work as an oil exploration journalist. The oil industry has been seriously impacted by the virus but surprisingly I have not lost one subscriber to my report service, so that's been a big plus.

On the down side, I have now been waiting some 15 months to see a consultant about a problem with my legs, which are getting steadily worse. Still family's all safe and well so can't really complain.

I work in the gaming industry and for obvious reasons, it's done really well, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been challenging especially as we've launched Sony PlayStation 5 just a couple of months ago too.

But my studio has managed to launch a new game at the start of the pandemic, followed by a massive expansion in the summer and delivered around 45 updates in total throughout the year.

That would be considered remarkable and impressive in any normal year, let alone one dominated by a pandemic.

I've coped fine on a personal level too, but used the opportunity to take care of myself more than I normally would. I've gotten to the root cause of an underlying health issue that had been bothering me for a while, have been getting regular weekly treatment for a chronic back problem (made affordable by not having to commute), cut down on boozing by a third (thanks to the lack of football or after work socialising) and cycled (indoors) loads more than I'd ever done before.

Sending you all good vibes.

Neil, I’ve got a chronic back problem caused by a rock climbing fall when I was in my teens.
Unfortunately it can only be cured by a major op to fuse my lower vertebrae which will mean about 3 months off work. Been recommend by the consultant to manage the issue as any op on the spine is obviously very dangerous and as I have full movement to get on with life.
It can be painful if I sit for long periods (LR!) or bizzarely if I’m on my feet for a long period but in normal day to day it isn’t too much of any issue.

Great thread,

All in all a pretty positive year here.

Everyone I love has remained healthy - also got to practise love from afar over Christmas which is often easier than in person with my extended family!
Worked all year - provide educational support and so busier than ever for our charity.
Saved a tonne of additional money to set ourselves up with proper savings for worse years.
Bought first home and moved out of the city to West Sussex with cracking access to some lovely countryside and an easy commute as and when needed.
Spent way more time than ever before with my partner - and we haven't even argued all that much!
