Let me think! Sanchez, Lynch, O’Connell, McShane, Ryan and RND so far directly recruited by BBM. That is a an impressive list for a 1st year manager. I’d go as far to say he is due to make a misjudgment on a signing, as all managers at this level have to take a chance. Who knows if it’s a good or bad signing at this stage. It will be months before anyone of us can make any real assessment, cos he sure ain’t gonna be getting an extended run ahead of Wilbraham and Hendo any time soon.
For the love of god at this stage BMM should have everyone’s trust when it comes to recruitment

The only issue I have is his namesake Jennings wasn’t exactly a prolific score in these parts last year!

Welcome Keaton and don’t worry most of us will give you a chance mate.

Well said.

Poll: 24/25 season ticket, how many free games would you consider fair?

Not really. A proven league two or conference goal scorer would do. I’d take eoin Doyle for instance.

More chance of us signing Mrs Doyle from Father Ted than Eoin Doyle. Guys got 23 in 22 in the division below.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

He wasn't up to much, but the team around him was pretty rubbish too.

Fortunately we replaced him with Steve Taylor.

Steve Taylor!

Now there was a striker who knew where the back of the net was!

How many goals did he get for the Dale TVOS? And his goals per game ratio?

The opening post said "new forward signed after impressing in trials" nowhere did I suggest it was to "THE striker signing of the window" that is your quote also nobody has said anything derogatory about the lad just expressed disappointment. I expect more additions to come but I am disappointed that 8 days into the transfer window we have so far signed a lad albeit one with promise. Would it be too much to expect that new players have been lined up before the window opened especially if its another loan, is this a case of waiting to see who is still available and cheap on Jan 30th.

I think the point is - why would anybody express disappointment at signing a player that none of us have seen play? He might be a world-beater for all you know. I perhaps could understand if the club came out and said 'this is the only signing we are making in this window', but they haven't, and you say yourself you expect more signings to come, so what is there to be disappointed about?

There's no doubt that BBM will have his eye on a few players, but most of the business is done towards the back-end of the window when options for players become limited and more players become available for transfer. We were in desperate need of signings this time last year and ended up signing five players in the window - none of them in the first 8 days. That's just the way the window works.

I know I'm a dinosaur, but why don't people watch him play before they make up their minds?

Correct you are but you are not on your own

I've never heard of this lad, let alone seen him play, but he's 18 and has impressed BBM. That'll do for me for now. I'm intrigued, not overjoyed nor despondent.

Before he came to Dale ,his record of 32 goals in 124 League games (approx 11/12 over a full season of 46 games) wasn't earth shattering and no doubt the £2000 fee paid ( if my aging memory is still working) was probably seen as a gamble.
Lets give the young man a chance and hope it is a another punt that pays off both for him and the club

Looks that way. Still think baah was shit on Saturday though.

Agreed that he certainly won't be happy with his contribution on Saturday but having watched the game again on TV do wonder whether he picked up a muscle problem as he can be seen rubbing and flexing his leg within the first few minutes

Dunno, I mean, you cannot buy a striker, and we ain't got the means to go shopping in any event. Dribblers, pace, dragbacks and all that, we've all seen it till teatime. Knock it in the net, why is it so hard, well let's write pamphlets, but there it is. Having bollocks I guess.

Maybe this kid has got it? Who knows? Best bet we try a kid rather than some jerk we pay 400k and 5k a week for to live like Alan Partridge just off the 62.

As much as I'd love to see us sign an established striker, there is little sense in getting upset about this signing when that is not what this signing was meant to be. BBM described him as "a brilliant prospect".

Had a quick google and found an interview with him here:

Reckon it's a similar scenario to the one oldham had us in with COG.

I doubt they'll want a player who's openly admitted to not wanting to go back to Bradford in the media and Bradford will know they have Swindon over a barrel if they want to go up..

Hasn't he already played for Bradford this season?

Therefore ineligible for another club until next season.

Or is that two club rule just for permanent transfers?

Yes so even if MrGer gave a realistic target which Doyle wasn't - He wouldn't be able to play for us this season anyway
