RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 THREAD 19:26 - Sep 16 with 65700 views | MrSwerve | Who's your money on then? Probably the All Blacks in all likelihood. I'm hoping that Wales have a strong showing - hopefully we will make the semis at least. Going to be tough though.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 THREAD on 17:20 - Sep 29 by Joe_bradshaw | The thing is both those Ireland wins against the All Blacks were in friendlies. When the chips are down Ireland have a long history of choking. They have never gone beyond the quarter finals of a World Cup and have just 3 grand slams In their history. Gatland has led us to three grand slams in the last decade alone. |
I saw both those Ireland v Nz games didn't look very friendly to me but I know what you mean. Can't see anyone beating the All blacks but Wales showed some skill and guts today fair play to them.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 THREAD on 16:44 - Sep 29 by sainthelens | You suggesting England throw a game to finish second? Hmmm like it. Good odds beckoning. |
That would be funny watching them both trying to lose. Kick them both out and Wales can play Tonga or USA in the quarters

NZ's record of choking is not dissimilar. They won fair and square in 2015, albeit with a little help from Nigel in the final. But they choked massively in the 2011 final and choked to go out in 2007, 2003, 1999 and 1991. In 95 it depends who you want to believe. NZ v Ireland QF could be a humdinger, and if NZ get past that either Australia or England could also give them a game. If one of those knocks NZ out for us, The path, whilst not exactly clear, certainly opens up.

good 10 day turnaround for Fij, hopefully have game won by HT and take the key boys off. Put the reserves out against Uruguay, means plenty of recovery before the QF. Cannot overstate just how important todays result could be. [Post edited 29 Sep 2019 19:26]

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 THREAD on 19:27 - Sep 29 with 2480 views | JackSomething | One thing about the Aussies is that while they'll say and do almost anything on the pitch to give them an advantage, they tend on the main to be magnanimous once the game is over. Shame Cheika is choosing to throw his toys out of the pram over the ref today. Lucky you didn't have a yellow card or two you big baby.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 THREAD on 12:20 - Sep 30 with 2184 views | sherpajacob | Potentially bizarre scenario in the Ireland/ Scotland/ japan group/ If Ireland and japan both beat Samoa Ireland fail to get BP but Japan do. Going into the final game of japan v Scotland, (with Ireland having played all their games) the table will be Ireland 15 pts, Japan 14 pts, Scotland 10 pts If Scotland are winning easily against Japan and have achieved a better points difference than Ireland and Japan. They are qualifying on 15 points but in 2nd as they lost the head to head with Ireland, so will play NZ in the QF. Obviously they would prefer to win the group and avoid NZ. They can achieve this by letting Japan get a bonus point creating a three way tie and therefore removing their head to head with Ireland from the equation. They will already know Irelands final points difference, so In effect both Japan and Scotland will know exactly the score required for them both to go through. [Post edited 30 Sep 2019 12:22]

Cumulatively pretty slim, probably about the same as you would have got on a win double for Japan over Ireland and Uruguay over Fiji. The likelihood is Ireland will get a bonus point v Samoa, but poor weather or an inspired Samoa or a referee that referees Ireland according to the laws of the game could all be factors that mean they don't. This is the key game. If Ireland don't get maximum points against Samoa, Japan and Scotland will know exactly what they need to do to gerrymander a result that suits them both. Could end up Scotland 55 Japan 48. I would buy match points on the spread now
