From my very limited medical knowledge an induced coma can be a very wise and preventative move and not as alarming as it sounds. still, a heart attack....

Sad news indeed. I loved him as a player at QPR and always had a bit of an affinity as I played for one season in a team with him in the Hayes & District League (I think that was what it was called back then) even though he was nearly 2 years younger than me; he was THAT good even then. I guess the alcohol is finally taking it's toll on his body. I hope he fully recovers and turns it around.

The grass is always greener.

Poor bloke. He's been through the mill with drink, depression and all sorts. Hope he pulls through.

Get him inducted into the forever Rs. Forget the scum connection and the sorry managerial saga, he played the best football of his career with us.

Get well soon, Super Ray.

Can we go out yet?

Get well soon Ray. Had the pleasure of meeting him in his office at HQ when he was manager. I had a nephew who was 7 years old and terminally ill and we all were all

guests of the club for the day and he couldn't do enough.
Took us to the players lounge etc.
Top bloke.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Of course that was meant to be an up arrow, 2T2B! Bloody fat fingers!

A quality goal, which summed Ray up so well. Many would have blasted that, but placing / passing the ball into the net is a skill only the best have.

That and his diving header are my great memories of goals at QPR...

When his son says 'it's not looking good' you have to worry. One of the best passers of a ball I've ever seen. Must have created 50% of Les Ferdinand goals when they played together. Always made a fuss of Richard Ireland ( the guy in the mobility scooter who is ever present at all games)whenever he visited LR . A true gentleman on and off the pitch.

Get well soon Ray.

His debut away at palace along side Peter Reid was about as perfect a midfield masterclass as you’re ever likely to see.

Poll: Are you watching the World Cup

1
Ray Wilkins on 10:11 - Mar 31 with 12061 viewsEsox_Lucius

I used to go and watch reserve team games when I lived closer and one of them was a game at LR against Charlton (I think) and during a phase in play Ray was loitering over near the dug outs about 3-4 metres infield and a hoofed clearance was heading his way. He shaped as though to volley it right footed back into the box and several players reacted accordingly. Instead, he killed the ball on the drop and flicked it to his left foot where he volleyed it to the opposite side of the goal to where the defenders had moved in expectation of the right foot volley. It has taken me many minutes longer to write this than to have watched it but was one of the finest goals I have ever seen but was probably never captured on film. If this is the end for him, I hope he leaves without any further pain and he finds the peace he struggled to find in his later life.

The grass is always greener.

And they only played together twice, imagine if they played that whole season ?? Beat Palace 3-0 then the Fulham Broadway pikeys 4-2.
