Yes I do, many believed Kyle wasn't good enough either and look how well he has come on with regular football.
Just how good is the question, will he always be back up or can he get back to fighting for a starting place?
I seem to remember practically everyone wanted to get rid of FF last year and yet under PC he has gelled with Alfie and they now make a good partnership, so who knows? |
Not trying to be clever mate....but I've always liked Bartley and been a big, big admirer of Mawson right from the very start.
In regards of talent, VDH is a division behind Bartley, and at least two divisions behind Mawson.
I see absolutely nothing in him, a division one player, or lower championship at the very best.
Of course this is just my opinion, and I would be just as happy as you if VDH came good, but I can't honestly see it, I really can't. |  |

I never wanted rid of Fede but think VDH is shite
In fairness Barkley had a decent game Saturday but 1 game in the PL & posters are going a little over the top, he's been very poor in games for us prior to that.
Anyway I hope it's nowt too serious and he makes me eat my words
I do agree a run of games especially at centre half with the same partner is a must I am just hoping we don't have to chance that with VDH.

Thought it was odd PC said today not looking for CB cover. Unless he sees something in VDH, not only reverting to 2 CB, but injury to FF or Mawson and we'll be in trouble. Maybe it's a smoke screen but not getting cover at CB - even a loan - doesn't make sense. |  | | |

Well he did say he will look into the youth team in an interview recently.. so wouldn't be surprised if he did go back 3 with FF, AM, VDH.. and having Rodon on the subs bench.. | | | |

Nor me. More because it leaves us with no CB cover than anything. I'm not a huge VdH fan, but think he would be fine in that formation. You can more or less afford to have one 'free' centre back who as long as he keeps shape and discipline, can stay pretty central, attack everything in the air and look to get blocks and tackles in without as much marking responsibility. Alternatively, you can give the big man the man marking role Bartley had last week. I think he could do either. He looks weak in a CB partnership, I think he'd be ok in a 3.
I don't think we would have gone with 3 centre backs against Palace or Newcastle anyway. Would we have tried to do the same to Benteke as we did to Lukaku, or would we have looked to impose ourselves a bit more? I'd think the latter. | | | |
