End of an era for sure...

Grew up with his 'Generation Game' heyday, reminds me of being a kid.

RIP Sir Bruce.

First memory of Saturday night TV was the conveyor belt in the Generation Game. Trying to remember whether this was just before or after hiding from Daleks behind the sofa.

Indeed, a great innings. Mainstay of weekend TV for decades and as others have said, puts today's generation of talentless self-obsessed celeb wannabies to shame.

RIP.

Old school entertainments pro. The likes of Ant and Dec and the rest of todays poor pretenders, are simply not a patch on the man with the spivs moustache. Always looked like he belonged to the 1940's and 50's. RIP.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

You just don't really get the all rounders like that any more do you? Bit of singing, bit of dancing, bit of comedy. Everybody sort of has one thing now, and most of them aren't even very good at that.

He was, as the saying goes, one of a kind. Totally agree with the above posters' remarks about the current batch of "stars" on telly.

I went to see "you bet" being recorded circa 1990, I was sat on the end seat near where Bruce was standing when the challenges were going on, he was absolutely hilarious with his off the cuff comments about the contestants, he lived at Virginia water next to wentwoth golf course, my eldest daughter got a Saturday job in the chemist there, he would regularly go in and pick up his own prescriptions and always had a laugh and joke with my daughter.
RIP

One of my earliest TV memories is watching Sunday night at the London Palladium when I was about 4 or 5, 'Brucie' was the compere.

Another thing he did not mentioned yet was a one man show in the late 70's. Wasn't really my thing at 18/19/20 but older folks who saw it said he was multi talented, a British Sammy Davis Jnr. Not sure but I think he even played the drums.

A long successful career, there won't be another like him.

Sad to see Sir Bruce leave us. A British legend. Just watched the tribute on BBC1 earlier. What a wonderful talent the man was. Born to be in front of an audience.

Terry Wogan
Ronnie Corbett
Cilla Black
And now Brucie, all irreplaceable in their own way and all sorely missed.
