If you're travelling from Rochdale and want to avoid busy town pubs, could do worse than the Pack Horse up the lane at Birtle. I think there's a kids play area there too.

The Swan and Cemetery is okay on Manchester Road just a bit further down from the college. It is a bit pricey, but well within your financial means! |  | | |
