He was signed by Hughes and was much vaunted at the time, so I suspect he may well be on a few quid.
I rather like him. He has made significantly less errors than Caulker this season and has the pace that we suffer from the lack of when Dunne or Hill play there.
His touch isnt great and I think that Isla must be scratching his head over the fact that Ned is playing in front of him.
But, he's the best of the centre half options we have I think. However, assuming SOG's point is correct (and on this occasion I think it might be), we should listen to offers.

I think one of the teams coming up may take him but I like Ned. He is a well educated lad, works hard, but as everyone says, possibly more suited to the Championship, purely because his ball play is so limited. But then again so was Alan McDonalds, but Macca was a real leader. Ned perhaps is too quiet to be a leader but he has the attributes.
I have the feeling that if we keep Ehmer, who has the best feet and ball skills of any defender we have alongside him that we would be okay next year.
More to the point we must start playing Ehmer. He is 6 foot 5 and has the ability to be the next Glenn Roeder. |

Ned will be fine in the Championship. Ehmer will be good to get involved and Sendles White. I'd keep Dunne and Hill. If we can get our money back on Caulker then get rid.
As for some of the other comments. I for one would carry Mackie on my back from Reading to Shepherds Bush.

with good run at CB I think he is more than decent - he has something we lack aka pace.
He is not a right back however and I think this taints people's view of him. Settle him in at CB and keep him there and we will reap the rewards.
That said I doubt he will stay.
I would keep Hill on as well - will still do a job for us at CB when called upon. I'd go, subject to if they would accept the salary, Ehmer, Dunner, Hill, Ned | |

He's nothing special and easily replaceable.

Start off with what is better that is available?
Then remove from that list anyone with a significant transfer fee.
Then remove from that list those who wouldn't be interested in joining us.
Suddenly there are far fewer options available to us which are either as good as, let alone better than what we currently have.
He is our player, he played reasonably well in the Premiership, is fit, quick motivated and effective, particularly with a verbal centre back next too him. | |
