Swans in for Ngog on 22:33 - Jan 23 by Brynmill_Jack | I really like LeFondre. At £5 million he would play a big part in our PL survival . Great movement and a real goal poacher's instinct |
Just can't see how he could play up front on his own, which we would more than likely ask him to do.

I think we would use him off the bench primarily to put on with Bony if we were chasing a late goal to draw or win. I think he could definitely do a job for us

I agree and that's exactly what we need... if you think of the reported value of someone like Rhodes... is it 8mil? Le Fondre for the same price as we paid for Pablo and Ki... if he weighed in with the sort of tally Sigurdsson got we'd be safe quite comfortably... He'd give us a completely new dimension...

he wont cost that - his contract runs out at the end of the season and Bolton are in huge financial troubles, I imagine they are desperate to get him off the wage bill - the only reason we all know about this deal is that Bolton want another team to come in to try and get a few pennies, but at the end of the day they need him off the wage bill

he started last weekend and got a hat-trick... I dare say he'll be on the team sheet next game...

I daresay he will. Doesn't alter the fact that he hasn't been able to hold down a starting place in a Championship side though... | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Swans in for Ngog on 09:46 - Jan 24 with 2007 views | oldcob | Why all the negativity about Ngog? He's fast and skilful. Not had much time with Bolton, but maybe thats Boltons failing. Could do well in our set up.Leon has always been brilliant for us but when he went to Sheff Utd. spent most of his time outside the first eleven. When he came back same old Leon. Lets give Ngog a chance to see what he can do with US. Really negative to criticise the man when he's not even kicked a ball for us.

I agree with you, however you can't really blame people for wondering what's going on when we are clearly struggling and we are looking to bring in someone who hasn't been a success at championship level let alone the Premier league. A true Premier league quality forward, would in my opinion score at least 12 or so league goals even in a poor championship side. If the Swans have shown due diligence in scouting Ngog I'll feel better about his potential signing. We have form, with managers and players of signing young players/managers who have a determination to improve. Ngog, is definitely in that category and will be determined to take his chance. The way the club seems to be run at the moment though you wonder who's pushing the signing through?

"A true Premier league quality forward, would in my opinion score at least 12 or so league goals even in a poor championship side. " To be fair, we already have one of those in Bony. We are looking for cover up front. That is what we are getting. We were never going to spend £5m on a back up striker were we? Come on guys. Think about it. EDIT - the last part of my post is not directed at you, ymaohyd, just this thread in general. People saying how Le Fondre is "only £5m". [Post edited 24 Jan 2014 10:35]

I think £5m is a lot of money for Le Fondre, he hardly sets the world a light. Like you say we were never gonna spend £5m on a back up player. Plus we have Michu when fit who will be the true 2nd choice striker should Bony be unfit

Swans in for Ngog on 11:35 - Jan 24 with 1737 views | johnlangy | I continue to be amazed at people's reactions. So many of you complained that there's no news abut signings. Then, when we get some news you say 'I don't think this guy's good enough', 'he's only Championship', 'I think this guy's better' etc etc. It's apparently been confirmed that we are in talks with Bolton. But talk is all that it is at the moment. The Club have probably enquired about 50 players (or make up any number you want). Not a single one of you have been privy to the discussions between ML and HJ. None of you know what's been asked for by ML or suggested by HJ. None of you know the financial situation. And none of you are better able than ML to judge what the right decisions are regarding the players to sign given whatever constraints there are. There's no problem suggesting where we need to strengthen or what players you think we should sign but what's the point of slagging off the Club about players they haven't signed yet and slagging off those players (if they do end up signing) before they even kick a ball.

Disagree! By your logic then it's pointless having a fans forum for people to express an opinion! I haven't a problem with any opinion, if someone gives a bit of a reason for having that opinion. I don't like or enjoy reading abuse towards another poster. Other than that crack on.

So you think we'd splash out £5m on a striker now, in January, with ML likely to leave in the Summer? Honestly?

Swans in for Ngog on 13:39 - Jan 24 with 1520 views | AnotherJohn | With 70m TV income on the line for next year, yes, dead right I would. Apparently we are top 50 in income, but that does not seem to bear any resemblance to the failed Championship players we seem to be looking at.
Swans in for Ngog on 14:25 - Jan 24 with 1449 views | gyrjack | Ngog could be a shrewd move, he's coming as a backup player so no big investment involved. He's young, fast and must have something for the scousers to have paid £4m for. If he plays on the wing and can cross a good ball to Wilf, then that would be a vast improvement. All our wingers have shown that they can score, just not exactly prolific are they? (especially when injured). just sayin like

Look. If you post anything that's not praising anyone in our team, even if they are clearly crap, you ll get hammered. Strange that the negative posters are so obnoxious to the positive or complacent ones. Negative? .Ngog was brought to Liverpool by Houllier and seen as a total waste of space who wasn't a good taker of chances. He got sold to Bolton where he s carried this on. Skilful myarse. FECK,some really don't mind second best. Stick you chest out and pump it up.

Good post, John. Thing is with this one, is that Bolton are a club that needs to shift their high earners. They've likely leaked the story to try and drum up some other interest, or to improve their bargaining placement with us. I think he's a step up from Alvaro, and I'm more than happy for us to give him a go.
