Entertaining City

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho vowed to keep entertaining fans with their attacking intent. He also refused to criticise Chelsea's cautious approach that was all to evident in Saturday's Premier League fixture between the two sides.

City's attacking intent was clear when they brought on Edin Dzeko, Frank Lampard and Stevan Jovetic at Stamford Bridge while Chelsea's Jose Mourinho seemed intent on not losing the game when he took off Chelsea goalscorer Loic Remy to be replaced by defender Gary Cahill.

"The important thing is that we play every match in the same way, from first minute to last," the Brazilian told the Manchester Evening News.

"The manager asks us to work every day in the same way - it doesn't matter who we are playing against. We try to do it, but sometimes we can and sometimes we can't."

The point at Stamford Bridge kept City five points adrift of Chelsea but given City's attacking flair and dominance Fernandinho could not hide his disappointment.

"When you see the way in which we played this game, it is not a good point,” he said.

"But when you look and see that it was against the leaders of the Premier League, and they are at home, you can say it is a good point.

"But it was important, because this was our best performance, the best we have played, and we need to keep like this for the rest of the games as well.”

Fernandinho joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk in June 2013 for a fee of £34 million.
