Ello John .. got a new player?

Pity the Bloomfield Road kit man this week. New to the job, spent the summer washing 8 pairs of socks and removing 30 odd names from lockers and now he'll be the busiest man on the Fydle Coast. Today he'll be looking for the letters L U N D S T R A M ready to put on the back of a new shirt to welcome the Seasiders latest signing from Everton.

Ian Holloway had a penchant for midfielders and so it seems does Jose Riga. Many questions were asked about why the club didn't offer more to Angel Martinez to stay at Bloomfield Road and maybe that's becoming a bit clearer with the way that the manager's signings are going so far. His latest addition is exactly what Blackpool need. A young, ambitious, talented Premier League player who can't compete, at the moment, with the multi million pound foreigners who are taking over that league and so have to go and prove themselves at Championship level.

John Lundstram is a 20 year old who has represented England at under 17, 18 and 19 level. He has been at Goodison Park his whole career whilst playing on loan for Leyton Orient, Doncaster Rovers and Yeovil Town. Of course there is the Noel Blake connection here who was in charge of the England Under 18's and he must have had a part in Lundstram's decision to come to Bloomfield Road. Interestingly his sister is in the reality show Desperate Scousewives and so expect some hair extensions and false nails around Bloomfield Road (well a bit more than usual anyway!).

It's another season long loan with the Chairman seemingly learning from past mistakes of just using the short term loan option. Follower our new player on twitter @johnlunny33

How will Man City react to Rodri blow?
Manchester City midfielder Rodri is arguably the best at what he does in world football. Fresh off the back of yet more success with City last season and with Spain at the Euros in the summer, it was expected the Spaniard would be back to lead the charge for Pep Guardiola’s side this term. But his season is already over due to a serious knee injury.
Toney’s Future On Hold Until After The Euros
Ivan Toney is expected to be the subject of a lot of interest this summer, with his Brentford future in doubt. The striker, who has been a revelation since joining The Bees, has spoken of his desire to challenge himself at the highest level possible, but talks on his future will now be put on hold because of Euro 2024.
