City Held By Norwich

This game had everything except of course goals unless you want to count the goals scored by Gary Hooper of Norwich and Alvaro Negredo of City for offside .After Arsenals thrashing at the hands of Liverpool earlier in the day we were all hoping to end Saturday on a high with City back at the top of the table, but it wasn't to be.

It was a very lacklustre display from City especially considering this came after the disappointing 0-1 loss at home to Chelsea on Monday night. Both sides started the match brightly with chances at both ends. First a cross from Gael Clichy heading for David Silva was stopped by Norwich defender Joseph Yobo. Then at the opposite end a 20 yard shot from Martin Olsson cannoned off Pablo Zabaleta to go behind for a corner. City ended the first half brightly with several chances. Negredo powered a header onto the crossbar and then came close again when he hit the side netting with a rifled shot form distance.

City started the second half the way they finished the first when Navas seemed certain to score as he shot from close range but Olsson moved to block the shot. In a rare Norwich attack Hooper played the ball into space for Russell Martin but his half volley flew wide.

Pellegrini made his first change on 61 minutes when he replaced Jovetic for Edin Dzeko.

Norwich then replaced Hooper after he needed treatment for a foot injury with Norwich's record signing Van Wolfwinkel.

City's second substitution of the day came when Negredo was replaced for Kolarov in what was seen by many to be a little odd considering City were getting on top and looked the most likely to score.

Dzeko had a chance but shot into the side netting as City failed to get on top.

By this point City were dominating possession but were left to rue chance after chance.

In an unexpected end to the game, Wolfswinkel and Pilkington came close for Norwich.

So another opportunity for City to go top was missed. We all hope that this week brings us some brighter news on the injuries to Kun Aguero and Fernandinho.
