The £8-10m pound question is do we let Neil loose with January's transfer kitty?
In these days of "undisclosed fees" the truth is we do not know exactly how much a quartet of January signings is going to set us back?
It seems likely Leeds should acquire the services of Stoke outcast Michael Tongue for a "nominal fee". El Hadji Diouf hopefully we will sign up until at least the seasons' end on a contract more deserving than the £5k he currently gets. It seems unlikely we will be able to prise Messers Tate and Thomas on anything better than loan deals until the end of the season as their parent clubs seem in no great hurry to get them off the payroll.
Add the 150k committed to making Ryan Hall's move from Southend permanent,it will still surely leave a few quid in the coffers for Warnock to bring in a few high profile signings as the new year rolls in?
However it is a reasonable question to ask, given he is set to retire at the end of the season, would it be worth GFH incurring the wrath of signing-starved fans and give Warnock a conserative budget rather than put all our eggs in one basket and the new manager inheriting a squad he does not want?
Recently Ken Bates revealed that Leeds are committed to paying £2m a year in wages to players Neil Warnock no longer wants, I assume he means Paul Connelly, Paul Rachubka, Ramon Nunez etc.
Do we want or need history to repeat itself.
I suppose much depends how near or far away Leeds are from the play off places when the window reopens.
Obviously the tragedy is there for all to see. Had GFH and Bates concluded their business in expedient time then we might have been in pole position to push for the Prem?
