Saints Now Have Something To Build On

After the great win at Loftus Road and the manner in which it was achieved, Saints now have a great opportunity to build on this foundation.

Whilst no one should get too carried away in beating what is sadly for QPR fans the worst and most heartless team in the Premier League, there have still been a lot of positives in both the draw against Swansea and this win than not having been present a few weeks ago can now be looked at with hope.

I said in a couple of articles last week that perhaps Saints could consider themselves unlucky in that not only did they have to play some of the top clubs in the early games, but we also travelled to several mid table sides who were in fine runs of form at the time, that cant be helped and sometimes the fixture list can both aid and hinder a team, whilst it cant be denied that overall a league table wont lie and you finish in the area that reflects your level, at the bottom where the difference between relegation and safety can literally be down to a last minute goal against you in a game back in December (think Boro at home in 2004/05) the fixture list can sometimes make the difference between going down and staying up.

Now however its time for Saints to take advantage of the fixture list themselves, in the next month in the run in to Xmas we have five games, yes the Liverpool away game will be tough but we also have four home games all of them against sides in the bottom half of the table and all winnable.

With our new found confidence we now need to take the bull by the horns and take the initiative in the fight against relegation, win three out of the four at SMS and we go into the Xmas period full of hope.

We now are playing with both shape and spirit and we have the opportunity to keep that going, make no bones are improvement is also down to the quality and form of the opposition dropping, we havent become a good team overnight, however we have shown not just the rest of the division, but perhaps ourselves also that we are good enough to drag ourselves out of the bottom three and now is the time to show it.
