Whatever Happened To... Simon Clark

After leaving Layer Road half way through the 2001-02 season to start a new life in Singapore, Clark spent three years at S-League side Woodlands Wellington, where he was first a player-coach and later became player-manager.

He returned to the UK in 2005 and signed for Kings Lynn before returning to Essex to take on a player-coach role at Maldon Town. In September 2005 he was appointed player-manager at Isthmian League Premier Division club Leyton, but was sacked after just over a month in charge, and returned to Kings Lynn.

In more recent years, Clark made a break into coaching at Football League clubs, firstly coaching at schoolboy and youth level at Lincoln City and Peterborough United, and later becoming a first team coach at the Imps. In September 2009 he stepped up to take caretaker charge at Sincil Bank for five games and left the club once a permanent manager was appointed.

Since leaving Lincoln, he went on to work as a scout and a personal trainer, eventually getting back into football management in May 2010, taking charge at Stamford AFC who play in the Northern Premier League Division One South. In October this year he left Stamford to become manager of Worksop Town, who play a tier higher in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Clubs since leaving the U's: Woodlands Wellington (Singapore), Kings Lynn, Maldon Town, Leyton, Lincoln City, Peterborough United, Stamford, Worksop Town.
