JOLEON LESCOTT, HE'S TOP OF THE LEAGUE.
So, here we are, Champions again, for the second time in three years. What an achievement for the lads, and in particular Pellegrini.
What a challenge that man had.
Under the reign of Mancini, and this will sound like heresy to some, the players were not encouraged to be in unison. They were disenfranchised and lacked team spirit. I put this down to Mancini's man management. Even with this, we still managed to win the league, which said something about the calibre of players we were bring into the club.
So, after the sacking, in comes Manuel Pellegrini, who comes under a lot of fire from not only the sceptical fans, but also some of the wider footballing community. He looks calm, collected and focused. Manuel is nicknamed "The Engineer", and over the season he has managed to not only engineer a title winning team, but one of the most prolific goalscoring teams in history. 102 goals in 38 games, one short of the all time league record.
He took a fragmented squad and cemented relationships, with the players noticeably happier to play under Manuel than they were under Roberto Mancini. A turning point in the season was after our defeat away at Cardiff, where, despite the shock defeat, Manuel insisted that we played exactly the same the week after, a bold move in any managerial position. He knew that his tactics were sound, and that with these tactics he could utilise his squad to win the title.
After we beat Norwich 7-0 (a game I missed thanks to my girlfriend moaning that I hadn't spent enough time with her... OF ALL GAMES TO PICK?!) we could really sense that we were most definitely title contenders, if it was ever in doubt. Valiant performances afterwards at West Brom, Arsenal and Liverpool yet again reassured us that this year could be ours.
City pounded on, ravaging teams mercilessly, always looking for that extra goal. Superb form from Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko (in goals, not in general play) put us in a position where we were poised to strike at title rivals Liverpool, if they fell at Chelsea.
STEVE GERRARD GERRARD!
HE SLIPPED ON HIS F***ING ARS*!
HE GAVE IT TO DEMBA BA!
STEVE GERRARD GERRARD!
They fell at Chelsea. Literally.
Two wins at Villa and West Ham were all we needed to secure OUR title.
Did we do it? Course we did.
No more "Typical City".
CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND, ONCE AGAIN.
