After Match Reaction - Accrington (a) Sunday, 22nd Aug 2010 08:28 by TheSilkWeb Gary Simpson was left bemused by the performance of the Silkmen at Accrington Stanley yesterday. As Cheryl Cole says - weak, limp, lifeless sums up Macc quite well. "It was a disappointing result but most of all it was a disappointing performance as well." Simpson told the BBC. "I don't know if we were a bit leggy or the pitch sapped our legs more than it did their legs, but they are just excuses, they are not reasons really." "I could back them for giving their all and chasing lost causes - things which we've been renowned for and good at. But today we just didn't do it." Accrington boss John Coleman was very happy with his side. He said "Macclesfield are always a tough opposition. They've got good work rate, lads with good ability and good pace and they're always a threat from set plays." "I thought we did well to counter them, though I thought they started the brighter and for 15 minutes were the better team. We needed to do a bit of adjusting and thankfully we did and then I was delighted with the second half performance." "It's as good as we've played for a long while at home and the pleasing thing was that we weren't hanging on. We went 3-0 up and were still asking the questions and controlling the game in their final third which gave our lads at the back a bit of respite."
