Southampton At Nottingham Forest The Preview
Sunday, 19th Jan 2025 09:45

Saints travel to in form Nottingham Forest looking for their first Premier League win under Ivan Juric and trying to drag themselves a bit nearer to the unwanted low points total record, can they catch Forest unawares.

Writing these previews has been pretty same this season, its the same plea every time, keep it tight and don’t be the architects of our own downfall, this one is no different as once again we threw away the points after a promising display at Old Trafford.

Hopefully Ivan Juric has learned another lesson the hard way after Thursday evening, back then he made too many substitutions and some of them were the wrong ones at that, but s I now say, any hope of staying up is now gone it is just about building for next season now.

But having said that Juric has to start showing that he is the truly the man for the job, at the moment it seems to be a good game followed by an awful one and that has to change, we are not only too inconsistent, but also erratic.

I don’t see many changes from the starting line up at Manchester United, the system worked for over an hour, in fact a little bit longer than that before our collapse in the closing stages, we showed that we can go out there and play, it was the multiple changes that led to our downfall.

Forest have shown that when a team gets to the Premier League the first season up is crucial, you have to dig in and fight and stay up, then you can build on those foundations and move up the League, but I think they like us a few years ago then find it’s easier to get momentum and move up the League, but it is difficult to maintain it.

At the moment they are on a roll and that. Might just suit us this afternoon, we might just catch them with some complacency having set in that they are only playing lowly Southampton, as we did at Old Trafford, we might just surprise them.

He’s had 4 games… so 1 good one and one bad one is to be expected for a month or 2 while he gets the squad up to the right fitness levels and conveys his style and methods. I think it was clear to him where we lost the game on Thursday so at least he sees things and can admit them rather than try to find excuses.
I thought the first half at Old Trafford was the best 45 minutes of the season so there is some hope that Juric can be the man.. I like his passion, polar opposite to that of one player he subbed on at United who trotted gently round as if there wasn’t a care in the world and should not play for us again this season until his head gets some desire and aggression in it because it’s not ballet

I was very negative about the appointment of Juric, to be honest, but if the first 70 minutes at Old Trafford are anything to go by as a benchmark of his football, I’ll gladly change my mind about him. Besides, what’s not to like about a guy who is genuinely passionate, regardless of his style of football? His passion alone is starting to win me over! It will be so exciting to see today if we can replicate those first 70 minutes over the entire game. If we can manage to spring a surprise and secure a win, I actually think survival is possible. That’s how good some of the football at Old Trafford was, but I think today will easily show if it was just as much down to Utd being poor though.

Honestly Fisk27 ? If so, get down to the bookies now, we are 25/1 to retain our Premiership status and 1/100 to be relegated !

Any news on whether Dibling is fit ? What are Sports Republic playing at again, they should get in the Corinthians striker or someone similar for Sulemana to feed. More procrastination when action is required.
