Refwatch: Dale v Chesterfield
Saturday, 24th Dec 2016 09:00 by TVOS

Hull referee Carl Boyeson will be the man in the middle for Dale’s Boxing Day fixture against Chesterfield.

This will be the second consecutive season in which he has refereed this particular fixture, while Carl was also in the middle for our 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield in August 2014.

Having joined the league list in 2002, Monday will be Boyeson’s 22nd game involving Dale, with the most incident-packed coming at Notts County in January 2005.

The match finished 0-0 and was a fairly timid affair, but Carl sent-off Dale’s Gareth Griffiths and Ernie Cooksey as we finished the afternoon with only nine men.

Cooksey’s red card was later rescinded, meaning he was free to take part in the FA Cup tie at Charlton five days later.

We last saw Mr Boyeson in August when he was at the Crown Oil Arena for Dale’s 1-0 loss to MK Dons.

Back in our 2013/14 promotion season, Carl refereed two Dale games and proved a lucky charm as they produced six points.

Early in the campaign he was in charge of the 1-0 home defeat of bury and in late-March he was the man in the middle as we won 2-0 at Wycombe.

Carl’s full record of Dale matches is:
