Dejan Lovren Has Saints Fans Vote For Liverpool Player Of The Year Wednesday, 15th Apr 2015 13:25 Liverpool FC's website has seen an influx of votes for a surprising choice for their player of the year 2015. Its fair to say that Dejan Lovren is not the most popular man on Merseyside, well at least not in the red half of it, the truth is he was never going to be a player that Liverpool fans would truly take to their hearts, many of them read straight through him with his behaviour towards Saints last summer not to mention his infamous "My heads already at Liverpool" exclamation. That marked him out as a wrong un to many Liverpool supporters and their opinion wasn't changed by a series of inept performances in a Liverpool shirt. However not all of Lovren's games at Anfield have been poor as shown in the picture accompanying this article when he headed the winner for Saints last season a goal that ultimately contributed greatly to Liverpool's failure to win the title. Now Saints fans are finally getting their chance to show their appreciation for Lovren and his place amongst the early pacemakers for Liverpool player of the season is being attributed to Saints supporters who are going to the official Liverpool FC website and registering their vote, which is surprisingly easy to do as it is open to everyone. However Lovren is facing stiff competition from Mario Ballotelli who is being boosted by the votes of Arsenal and Manchester United fans. Media coverage of what is happening is meaning that the Liverpool website is being overloaded and it is very difficult to actually get through and vote at present as supporters of other clubs join in the fun. Saints supporters are sure to be back on the site though on April 27th when voting opens for Performance of the season when Lovren's penalty miss in Instanbul brought much glee in the Southampton area, for those who missed it the first time around, the ball is due to pass over Southern England on April 29th at 10pm and it should be visible to the naked eye if it is a cloudless night. Sadly I think the sheer volume of United fans will ensure that Ballotelli will pick up the trophy which is a shame for Lovren as im sure in his mind the trophy is already in the cabinet.
