Happy New Year My R's - Preview
at 23:29 31 Dec 2024

Nice write up Clive.

Sums up the madness of supporting this club. All of us have asked the question, as to what exactly are we doing with our lives, spending our leisure time watching this club.

Happy new year to you.

Well there was of course the infamous Ronnie Kray, the gangster of the east end and then there was also Buster Edwards who after serving time for the great train robbery sold flowers outside Waterloo station and their love child was the aforementioned Ronnie Edwards, so can see why you think that !!!

The team i would play currently

Nardi

Paal JCS Fox Dunne

Field Varane Morgan

Chair Kolli Smyth

JCS subbed 60 minutes - returning from injury (Ashby)

Morgan subbed 60 minutes - needs some rest (EDB - Needs a run out)

Smyth subbed 60 minutes - needs some rest (Saito)

Would give Dunne some rest as needs it too but he is so important for us currently in either position and Fox worries me with both his know how and also pace being not on show.

And if needed would as forward option required be putting on Lloyd ahead of Frey in this one. Frey has been average since couple of his cameos so far.

Chair to start - feeling this could be the first game we get to see The real Ilias again. Been encouraged myself that he seems to look for others as often as he tries doing everything himself.

But the one new years gift we all don't want. Is no more key players picking up something that keeps them out for months it's getting a bit tiresome !!

It's always best to not live in the past

You just not getting the explanation either.

Happy new year sir.

Focus on the positive, of which currently I think our club is doing pretty well.

If he wasn't we could have got rid of him by now.

An employee who doesn't turn up and doesn't do any of their duties, they have their contracts terminated unless they are certified by medical staff as not mentally or physically well enough to carry out their duties.

Then there are legal obligations that could prevent a sacking.

But I am the gullible one apparently.

If what you are saying is correct and there's nothing medically wrong with him either physically or mentally, then the club are paying a man loads of money for a man that will never work for them and if you believe that's the case as you say then am afraid you are the gullible ones.

And if you think a professional club would smoke screen a player who was clearly swinging the lead so to speak, then this club is MASSIVELY amateur. That's what you are saying.

Why on earth would a club not discipline such a player if that was the case. They haven't.

But as said I just know from dealing with contractual employment law. I worked number of years ago for a service that supported employees struggling at work because of their mental health. And we liased with both the employer and employees. One guy was seriously unwell, sadly could not get up or get out without severe anxiety. He was in a very highly paid role. The corporate company he worked for paid him 75% of his salary for two years as they could not contractually terminate his contract for that time. He was sick those two years. Didn't work at all and wasn't able to return to work also. And this was 20 years ago.

I can't really explain this one again.

It's a sad situation all round for me.

It didn't work. We all move on.

Was certain Plymouth messed up by appointing him.

Plymouth fan, I know was certain Plymouth were going to be OK.

If at any time in the future, our club appoint Rooney, then most would predict dire consequences so even our hierarchy would not stoop so low, I would hope.

Where next for the relegation superstar !!!

The club supposedly tried to move him on in the summer.

Most people can relate to when an employer just doesn't rate you, and in general, we would all be looking elsewhere, so in some senses, it's understandable he has not performed as well this season.

He is solid enough for a club who want to consistently finish 18th in the championship.

But we need back up and if we want to progress, he is a decent option as number two left back in the club.

If the player to be our number one option, is possible to employ is another challenge in itself.

Off Topic - The Impossible?
at 14:04 31 Dec 2024

It's a club in constant turmoil.

And the whole place is contaminated with corruption and a total lack of focus and purpose. The stench of toxicity reeks and pollutes the place from top to bottom.

Good players become bad almost within moments of joining.

Small chance of relegation.

Bookies are rarely wrong, generally 20 to 1, but you can get 50 to 1, but can't see it myself.

Would love that to happen, but today's football makes it incredibly difficult for such clubs to experience this fate but yes most would certainly enjoy this and we all know people we could wind up for years to come, if that great day ever came.

I totally get all the words re how much money he is on and most of us cant imagine and would simply be quietly moved on with little or no financial help at all in this situation.

I get that.

But if someone is struggling big time, that money only removes one of many other challenges someone faces mentally if they arr ill and as said that's not on Richards that's on our bad judgement as a club.

People can do weird things without focus when mentally unwell such as social media posts too and especially if you are 22, not everyone is able to be a grown up.

But to grind the guy into the dirt. Who does that help no one.

I think it should be consigned to the past. If we can't get rid of him for the rest of his contract, we should just cut ties now. If he is being supported by statutory mental health services, it's practically impossible to terminate a contract, on these grounds.

If not, am certain, the club would have parted ways already.

Hence why am certain that's why we haven't been able to terminate his contract as he is not fulfilling the minimum requirements of his job and we would have been able to do this in an employment tribunal, unless he has ill health.

However, whatever the ins and outs can't see helping anyone why accusing the guy consistently of this and that helps no one, including the club.

Cut ties in best possible way all round.

The guy can get on with his life and the club can do due care and attention to personalities and backgrounds as best they can with any future recruitment so that those type of unwise job offers, don't happen again.

The Cambridge offer, I reckon we could be paying almost 100 % of his salary as i very much doubt any club be contributing much as it seems currently he is incapable of a job currently.

Ie it was a cock up all round. And it just needs to be put in the past and left there

Whatever the reasons behind this young man's problems, and yes clearly was a dreadful recruitment decision, I am sure he would rather be playing, but as we know nothing about him personally, sometimes I think it's a little dangerous to sl*g someone off so publicaly consistently as it's just really very sad story.

If he was an apprentice on a very low salary, he would not get the abuse he has got.

It was our mistake in giving him a fantastic contract. Anyone on here, who may have struggled in early life and not been up to a job but given so much money, clearly no one would have turned it down, but there clearly is problems we are not aware of. And if they are mental, really think as a forum, we need to lay off. Our club messed up, end of.

Would lay off the abuse to him now.

He clearly after his contract ends has no future in football.

It's the clubs error. When anyone recruits, it's often difficult to know about character, but i hope as a club, we are improving on this, but this is on the club and that's that.

But from what I hear, he is a troubled young man and I really think this nastiness towards him needs to stop.

Beyond football, there is a human being. Just saying.

Dare to Dream - January Games

HOME

Luton
Watford
Sheffield Wednesday

AWAY

Hull
Plymouth

Hopefully, we can pick up a few decent results amongst all this. Our main concern being our ever growing injury list.

But in isolation, all these games represent opportunities to gain points and also all are potentially winnable.

None of us know when our time is up.

Friend passed away from a brain aneurism at 44 a few years ago, totally without warning, and yes my dad had pancreatic cancer but the op to widen his tracheotomy went wrong.

Feel for Ludo, in the same way for the brilliant Sir Chris Hoy.

We all need to live our best life every day.

Rangers better hurry along their four year plan !!!

I don't understand how people recovering from injuries have setbacks.

Science can very accurately treat injuries and timescales are easier to predict but setbacks happen if the advice and treatment is not carried out correctly. Suggests picking up a twinge during a coaching session.

I swear these performance specialists are wannabe estate agents ie it's all just total BS !!!

Worse than it's ever been but 60k to 100k per annum for the injury specialists !!

Well worth their money !!

One thing I don't like is cover ups and the other one is fk ups. Performance science, my a**e !!!

What a waste of a lot of dosh...
