Wasn't at the game, but plenty of positive comments about Edwards at RB (incl an MOTM shout) on the match thread... |

Google Translate has that final sentence as: "Flu kept 40% of the player's rights." ...is that either a whopper of a sell-on clause...or a Faurlin (Mascherano / Tevez) dodgy dual ownership scenario!? |

Still think long term Jimmy is not Marti's ideal RB (and others are ahead of him in the CB line if all fit). He clearly (a) has huge respect for him as he has frequently lavished praise on him; and (b) sees him as the lynchpin when we have to 'go pragmatic'. But as we reach the sunlit uplands of midtable and a 2 mill bid comes in for a player who's OOC at the end of the season - well, what are we gonna do? In the summer, Sinclair's one year option was triggered with a one sentence announcement from the club and nothing from the man himself. This screamed, he wants out, we want to make sure we get some cash. By contrast, the announcement announcing Jimmy's similar extension was a two-way love-in. However, as it was just triggering the option rather than extending the deal, it seemed pretty clear there were honest discussions going on between both parties as to whether they wanted to do that...with Marti's longer term plans for style of play should he ever manage to reach the 'post-pragmatism' era central to that, I suspect. But like everyone else on here, I'm guessing tbh. |

Fair play tho to the journo for this line, and also to the no doubt smirking sub-editor who waved it through... "Evans was warned after police caught wind of the issue, but she sent further messages on Boxing and New Year's Day..." |

Vale from a Chelsea fan I know who follows them much deeper than the first team: "Can play anywhere on left or in middle of midfield. Scores a few goals too. Got on fringe of team then loan to Hull (didn’t work, injury I think), then Bristol Rovers playing all the time. Couple of Conference League apps this season. He can play LB but I think he’s better further forward myself. We don’t seem to have proper plans for academy developed players beyond their teens." |

Only makes sense to me if Bennie, who's probably been on the bench / got more first team cameos than was originally envisaged, is getting a loan as he's deemed ahead of schedule. |

Read this story on the Beeb last night. Amongst other things, the 'well manager: - has a win ratio of 41.3%, the club's highest in over a decade, with 7 other managers having come & gone in that period - steered them away from relegation with 30 points from 42 in his first 3 months in the job - during last season enjoyed a 10 game unbeaten run, their longest such run since 2010 ...oh and they currently sit 5th in a 12 team league where everyone knows at the start of the season who the top 2 are likely to be. They're above the much bigger Hibs & Hearts & arguably bigger Dundee. His crimes seem to be: - a bad run that's lasted a few weeks - losing to the bottom team last week - a style of football not all fans like Blimey! Much as I agree with L Block about the unseemly culture of 'instantism'...surely he's earned the sort of credit in the bank that Marti had with us? |

Pre-Leicester, Marti spoke about how he'd picked up on the "typical Rangers" mindset of the fanbase (he was talking specifically about how loads of us expected to lose to Luton cos they were on a woeful run). He said one of his aims was to change this outlook. Well to me everything about today (been on a great run, full house, the vibe generally 'up') screams a "typical Rangers" 2-0 or 3-0 to Wednesday, so go on Marti, prove me wrong... ps - I think that after a couple of below par outings, today is the day Chair edges back to his best with a couple more juicy assists ... |

Without wishing to give any credence whatsoever to FLW...Jimmy, as far as we know, hasn't re-signed, so still a debate worth having. One thing that has been stuck in the back of my mind...Jimmy at RB last season was part of Marti's Emergency Pragmatic Surgery approach. Of course MC started this season hoping to be a little truer to his principles...and am I dreaming it, or was their a quote along the lines of JD not being a shoo-in for right back? Marti may have reverted (once again successfully) to Emergency Pragmatism - the Sequel!...with Jimmy again playing a starring role, partly as the two RBs who were brought have been pants. But if I was the Irish Cafu, in the back of my head would be: will I be first choice here next season, if Marti gets a squad a little more capable of playing his preferred style... |

Aaah the black & white world of the internet, where nuance and shades of grey have been consigned to the dustbin of history. I enjoyed watching Nevin as a player, tho I was glad when he went to Everton as it was then easier to appreciate him. I've also managed to appreciate Charlie Cooke, Gianfranco Zola and one or two others who've played for that lot. I do that while still having a far greater dislike for Chelsea than any other club. I also enjoy him as a pundit, and respect both his politics and his musical taste. I find his 'blind spot' on both Terry and being on Abramovich's pay roll very disappointing...but hey, find me a football fan without several blind spots regarding their club (tho I'm with Cider on the lowlife that is Barton, I felt embarrassed / offended in equal measure when he played for us). The book's been recommended to me, I'll probably get round to reading it, and just mutter 'tw@t' whenever he speaks well of Terry... |

....while how he's regarded by Mari is indicated by Field / Colback starting ahead of him for the last few games last season. He certainly played his part in our turn round, but I don't see him as what we need now tbh. Field is only 3 years younger - come the start of next season, he'll be 27 and can surely play the role of the experienced head in that part of the field (no pun intended). |
