Paal does have the occasional howler but he was excellent tonight. I thought Derby were strong and dangerous for the first half hour. If they’d scored first it might have been a much tougher match. The quality of Chair’s goal really shook the and filled us with confidence. |

Every time we get in these situations I think of Brian Clough. One of the greatest managers I’m sure you’ll agree. He never told the press or anyone what his plans were, never explained why he dropped some players and he brought in others. Marti and Nourhi have the same attitude. Why explain your strategy to the opposition ? |

Compare Smyth with the greatest winger in the history of the world, Dave Thomas. No, no way you’re all shouting but don’t forget that Thomas was crossing to Givens, Francis and Bowles. The understanding between those players was almost telepathic. We’re beginning to see an understanding between Smyth, Field and Dunne. Good strikers don’t stand still they have go to meet the ball and arrive at the right place at the right time. Be great if Smyth and Frey could work out something between them and young Kolli knows where the goal is. |
