Gotta love the way some of our threads completely change direction from the initial points made. I'm with GaryBannister on this though. Think any 18-year-old kid should easily handle 3 games in a week. Although if I have one criticism of Morgan, it is his lack of stamina. His influence wanes in most games, so that is something to be worked on.

On the subject of 'modern kids' (yes I'm officially a boring old fart) inability to play more than the minimum requirement. My nephew had a match at 3pm last Saturday. At 10am many of his colleagues had 'county' (Gaelic training with the Sligo U16 development squad)training, for ONE HOUR. At the football match, many of his team-mates were dropping like flies with cramp! And the mammies were giving out at how OUTRAGEOUS it was that they were 'forced' to do both on the same day.

No other team in the Championship...
at 23:06 19 Jan 2025

Just digging a bit deeper into our transformation: In the 11 games between Sheffield Wed at home (where we got a very fortuitous point) on 14th Sept and Leeds away on Nov 9th we scored 6 goals and earned 7 points. I excluded the next game v Stoke (possibly a watershed moment) in order to include the last 11 games. In that period, starting with Cardiff on Nov 27th and concluding with Plymouth yesterday, we scored 17 goals and accrued 24 points. The only defeat in that run was the 3-0 reverse at Swansea.

It really shows the importance of confidence and momentum. In the games against Cardiff, Oxford and especially Bristol City, we rode our luck. If those games - as they easily could have - had yielded different results, we wouldn't be close to where we are now and probably Marti would be gone. Even though we had put in a couple of decent performances (Watford away and Norwich at home) prior to Oxford, it is only since Preston at home that we have played consistently well (with the obvious exception of Swansea) and are getting the results to match. It has been debated on other threads the key to our turnaround and I wont regurgitate that here, except to say that I believe hard work, confidence and good fortune are the reasons for our upturn in fortunes.

...have won their last 3 league games. Not the 'mighty' Leeds, or the equally in-form Oxford. Love my team.

If a miracle happened and we went up via the playoffs
at 10:07 19 Jan 2025

Incredible that we are even contemplating this conversation 2 months after 5 points adrift. It is a real conundrum There is no reason why we couldn't become an established premium league side like Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, but the flip side is Luron or Sunderland or Bolton. I think the main thing is just to enjoy the moment and see where it takes us

Getting Edwards in straight away - now that's great work !!
at 21:01 18 Jan 2025

We would without a doubt be in League 1 in any of the previous 4 season except for excellent loan signings in January. Stop being so narrow minded and learn to enjoy any decent performance in a QPR shirt- goodness knows they have been thin on the ground

Instead of being disappointed by wins for Cardiff,Hull, Coventry, Oxford and Portsmouth- I was pleased with defeats for Swansea, Millwall,Bristol City, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Norwich.

9 points off 6th, 9 points off 22nd...

Absolutely this. At the end of November I thought we were doomed. No complaining at all, just thought that the equilibrium between 'success' and 'failure' is rarely so perfectly balanced.

Effect on Team Form - Momentum Changer !!
at 16:09 12 Jan 2025

Yesterday will have zero effect on the Plymouth game or any other game for that matter. The only thing that will influence the game will be our attitude on the day and even then perhaps not because Plymouth really are shite. If we start on the front foot we should win with a couple to spare. If we don't then we could still win (like v Oxford/Cardiff or draw ar least 9.45

I think the importance of Paul Smyth and all the covering he does on the right hand side of the pitch is really obvious today

Cifuentes and Dunne Nominated For Monthly Awards
at 13:47 10 Jan 2025

Well to be fair Dunne is on top of his game right now but that hasn't always been the case. As Clive mentioned in his recent New Year's preview, this time last year he was chronically out of form. Also when fit, Coleman was going first choice RB and when not, Chedoze has been used as a wing back to great effect. We also have very strong CB's playing at a higher level or higher up the Champ than QPR. If you look at Ireland's results (England excepted ) they don't concede many. So the defence is not the main issue. If Dunne played in any position further forward , he would be a shoe in on current form.

Indeed I hate stats. They can mean any thing that anybody wishes them to mean. That's how I knew Beale was a crock of shit when most people were still worshipping at his feet

Interesting discussion on luck. Surely a golden opportunity missed to state that 'it evens itself out over the course of the season'.
Seriously, I firmly believe in blind luck to all the reasons stated by Brian above. When you read about the horrors and magic that happen(ed) all over the world down through the centuries, luck plays an enormous part . I also agree with Hunter that luck (a la Fox's clever backheel), can turn a game in your favour or against you.
Question is, did Edwards lose his job because of a series of moments of bad luck ? Luton have had their share for sure, but I think these things tend to get highlighted when your team is down near the bottom - I feel that over the course of the season they tend to.. never mind.

Indeed. I love how much we love our manager but we are not at risk of him being poached by a Premier league or upper Champ club - not yet anyway
