Rumour has it that RM has been told not to risk playing Tall Paul in case he gets injured because they intend to sell him in January. Might just be gossip but we'll soon find out.
After the bookings tonight Harwood Bellis + Downes + Dibling all suspended for next match against Chelsea. Plus Bednarek + McCarthy injured. Shall just give the points to Chelsea to avoid more injuries or suspensions.
RM is at it again, saying one thing & doing the opposite. He was praising McCarthy last week & saying how much he trusted him so he benches him for tonight. We've got a Premier Lge rookie between the sticks tonight in Lumley. I fear the worst ( but that is not unusual).
If you can believe all the gossip we are being linked with the signing of new players in the transfer window. What is the point. 99% certain that we'll be assured of relegation by then & back in Championship next season. Panic buys in January will not help us survive, the damage has already been done. We've played 12 games so have 26 games left. We'd need to get 32 - 36 more points to avoid the drop. Mathematically needing nearly 1.1/2 points per game to survive . Even those with the most vivid imagination can't see that happening.
Must admit when watching RM trying to give Tyler some instruction on the touchline Tyler looked pretty confused & unimpressed. Tyler should be given the freedom to express himself like Le Tiss used to. But I did notice that off the ball Tyler did do his fair share of sprinting back & tracking the opposition. I'd like to see the stats as which Saints player covered the most miles during the game, I'm sure it would have been either Fernández (who's got tremendous energy levels) or Tyler.
It's because RM just doesn't know what he's doing. He's way out of his depth, his team selections & tactics are ludicrous. How did we end up with such a clueless manager & why have we still got him.
I thought Tall Paul was excellent & gave us a new different dimension to our game. He looked totally committed, good attitude & held the ball up brilliantly. He also showed parts to his game that were unexpected, the ability to get past defenders & cause problems. What about the one mazy run he did after winning the ball. His injury is down to his lack of game time. He'd only played 63 minutes in total this season. You cannot expect any player to come into a game of this magnitude without the necessary preparation. No amount of training prepares you for the pace & intensity of the Premier lge. I blame RM, he's never given Tall Paul enough game time or opportunities to prove himself. Tall Paul certainly made a massive statement yesterday & if fit he should start every game. Hope his injury is not too serious, he deserves a chance.
I've thought for a long time that our players are just not fit enough, they all seem to fade & struggle to last 90 mins + that is why we regularly concede goals late in the game. If you haven't got the best players then the first thing a coach should do is get them 110% fit. If you can't match the opposition for quality you can make up for it with fitness.
Captain Jack. How is he Captain. The more I watch him the more I'm convinced he's useless. He wanders about in a dream & constantly getting caught on the ball or out of position. How come he's the only one on the pitch that never breaks sweat.
Strange team selection today. Looks like he's playing Fraser as Left Wing back. Why does he insist on playing players out of position. He'll regret this team selection today.
Apparently RM has said that he is confident that his team can get a result against Liverpool & get themselves off the bottom of the lge. Does he never look at the lge table, unless the FA feel sorry for us & give us 5 points in the very unlikely event of us beating Liverpool then we we are marooned at the bottom & will most likely be there for the rest of the season.
At least RM has excuse now for getting embarrassingly hammered by Liverpool. But he'll still be very proud of his team. What will it take for him not to be proud of his team.
Sometimes the attitude of a player can be down to the treatment he gets from the Manager. Managers should not have favourites (eg. JS & Manning). Also Martin picks his players on how they are performing in training, that's wrong. Your match day team should be based on the players with the most ability & those most likely to win the game for you regardless of what they do in training sessions. Some players don't enjoy training but come alive in matches.
