Simon Gauge interview
at 09:30 25 Apr 2023

Haven’t seen the full clip but genuinely cannot believe what I’m hearing here.
If he’s telling us this is the best he could have done, that he has no regrets and is satisfied he tried everything possible IN A SEASON WE GOT RELEGATED FROM THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE then how is this not the preamble to saying ‘and therefore I have realised I do not have the necessary skills required for this job and resign from my post’.

How the hell is this acceptable?

Wasn't the announcement I was expecting today from the club but nonetheless I quite like this.

who else has 100 continuous years in the football league?
at 17:10 23 Aug 2021

Given that this Friday's game marks 100 years in the football league, it got me thinking about how unique this feat actually was. So a question to stimulate the brain cells - out of the current 92 football league clubs - how many have also been continuously in the football league for the past 100 years?
The answer I got was actually a fair bit lower than I expected.

Update video from the chairman
at 13:30 2 Jul 2021

Good communication and what we hope to see more of.
Not sure what to think about this explanation - obviously it’s only one side but doesn’t really show BBM in the best of lights if he’s asked for the boards backing, been given it, but demands to leave anyway. After the loyalty shown to him in circumstances where many if not all managers might have been removed from their job, this doesn’t sit well with me.

Great win - from one of the 99
at 19:36 29 Sep 2012

Just back as I'm staying at the in laws who live in Rainham, just down the road from Gillingham. Fully deserved the win today - even before the sending off we were in control of the game. I wouldn't say it therefore makes us world beaters as Gillingham weren't at the races and certainly didn't look like a top of the table side today.

Our first goal was a short corner to Tutte who then curled it in from the edge of the box. Not long after was the sending off - seemed like their player went in with studs up and it's the sort of challenge which gets a red these days so they can't complain.

Second half they seemed to up the tempo and created more chances without ever seriously threatening. Grant's goal was decent and he deserved it from some industrious work. He was on the break and seemed to have missed it at first before getting it in at the second attempt. The pen seemed to me like refs chance to even things up because none of the Gills players had appealed for it. Ref indicated that the Gills player had been brought down but I didn't see it well enough to judge it. Certainly didn't reflect the run of play. Made for a nervy remainder of the game but we looked solid in defence and I never felt that the Gills attack had enough to trouble us. We even had a couple more chances where we could and probably should have scored again later on.

Plenty to be encouraged by and if we can keep this run going no reason to think we can't mount a decent challenge. Up The Dale.

World Cup kicks off
at 10:02 12 Jun 2010

the World Cup has finally arrived here in SA. Watched the game on a big screen here in Pretoria, the atmosphere was amazing. As good as any experience I've had watching sports in a big crowd. It was amazing to see so many white Zaffers decked out in yellow when football here is traditionally a very black sport. Seems like the whole country is getting behind the team. Not a bad result against a decent Mexico team who really could have won it. Not sure how they'll fare against France or Uraguay, but they won't be lacking in home support.

Today I'm off to Rustenburg for the England v USA game (my only England game of the tournament) so hoping for a decent performance from the lads. You have a feeling it's going to be a draw - but no reason we can't win the other 2 games and still go through easily. What we want is a display to put the frighteners up the other big teams but can't see it happening.

Come on England and Up The Dale
