Flicker is new bury manager on 21:55 - Dec 9 by ColDale

had just been thinking of the contrast in reaction with this to when a Bury player has had the temerity to join Dale.

Tom Kennedy. They told us he was shit. Now they hope Flicker can tempt him back!!

Thought that myself, had the likes of Northampton not started picking up results, his steadying of the ship might have been seen a bit differently

Daughter texted me earlier - said had I heard about bury - thought she was going to say they'd gone into admin!

Great appointment for them but a strange feeling for a lot of us Dale fans now - want Flicker to do really well but still want bury to lose.

Poll: So who do you believe - Hendo or the Board?

In the burning embers of the Coleman era a lot of us got carried away with the rumour that Flicker wanted to return to Dale. To put a dollop of 'hopeful' flesh on the bare bones of the rumour a lot of people convinced themselves that Flicker was the 'real' talent of Hillcroft. Hill's return to Dale put paid to that crock of shite. Up to Flicker to prove he can live without Hill now.

Day on Flicker: "...he has bought into what we are trying to achieve at this club..."

Of course he has Stewie!

Erm... you are paying him a salary, aren't you?

From one club with no money and ideas above their station to another. Out of the frying pan into the fire?

Really happy for Flicker that he has quickly got himself another managers job, but absolutely gutted it is with Bury.

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

Next season, if we both stay in league 2?

Average life expectancy at The Jaded is about 4 months at present.

We might meet this season .... in the play-offs.

Obvious appointment. Day's rhetoric though is setting the whole club up for a fall, whilst again pandering to the mongs delusion

'He has committed his future to take us back to where we belong, the Championship'

Oh dear Stewart. Oh dear.

I think the best result would be bury playing really well then losing to a freak, unpredictable goal. In every game.

That way, Flicker will have worked his magic, but bury will have failed. :D

This thread just highlights the fact that the average Daley is a far better human being than the average Bury fan. (For the reason Col stated earlier)

For one reason only I would now like Bury to survive, Flicker......If not for him being the new gaffer I would want them rock bottom last and gone into oblivion.

Poll: Hill in or out? 2nd referendum.....

Can't help feeling flickers has taken a risk he didn't need to by taking the bury managers spot.

His work at the back end of last season was enough to earn him a shot at a high end league two side who have more tools to be a successful manager than the lowly bury who dont have two pennies to rub together. Instead hes jumped in at bury, a team already struggling at the very wrong end of the table and if it doesnt work out for him, it's probably going to be the end of his managerial career.

I know you could compare this to Hill coming to us, the main difference being, Hill was always going to get time here, regardless of early results, as we know exactly what Hill can produce. whereas flicker hasn't acheived that much really, and will be expected to turn things around quickly.

I'm personally not one who bought into the whole flicker being the brains behind Hillcroft and thankfully Hill is well and truly demolishing that rumour in his second spell here. Never go back hey.

Leader of the little gang of immature cretins.

Good on Flicker and Bury,at least there`ll be added interest in the next few derby matches and that`s what helps keep both clubs alive.

As I (and several others) predicted, he has gone to where he has been before. Will he feel at home?
Does he not know they have new furniture now!

Be interesting how this changes the Hill Flicker relationship. I'm sure they'll stay best of mates and all that, but as rivals, with a similar philosophy and no doubt a common interest in potential signings, for the first time in their lives, they'll be somewhat cagey in their daily phone calls.

Touch wood, we go up, they go down, and their friendship can continue with mutual benefits as we loan them our fringe players for a chance of first team football.

They was together in rose and crown in ainsworth Sunday night with another bloke.

What's happened to kel ???

S Day - what a tit.

Good luck Flicker you will need it with all the #smokeandmirrors at Giggle.

Flicker will get the best out of what is an ordinary squad for sure. if thats enough to retain league status i suspect so but lets wait and see.

I'd like to wish Flicker all the best. He is probably the best person that bury could have appointed. I just hope he hasn't fallen for the promise of a decent wage budget, only for the money to run out soon.
He will get a very good reception from the Dale fans when we visit the JD next year.

It is a good appointment for Bury. If anyone can raise morale and restore some dignity to the club then Flicker has got to be in with a chance.
Not an easy place to be - but then was Barnsley?
I go along with the general respect for what he achieved with us and stick my neck out to state "deep down we don't want another local club to slip into obscurity (County) and have us miss what is a real derby".
Good Luck flicker.

May I say that Col's choice of piccy for the front page story on this appointment is a finely chosen snap, in the spirit of fun poking.

Things could get worse. we could have to face some of our ex players as well come our next away game with bURY... Barnsley will be keen to unload and bURY are huge spenders.... Yoh-ho-ho.. ...still all the best to the guy . U.T.D

Who will Barnsley want to ship out?

Can't see many of their squad wanting to drop down to L2 and oblivion at bury.

Take your point that the new Manager at Oaky will want to shape shift though.

Besides, bury have internationals Like Big Jessie waiting for the call, and Ashley.
