I think he is destined to leave the club now even if acquitted. After all mud sticks and even posters on this site are suggesting he is guilty so what will fans of other clubs make of it. |

As I understand it he has not been charged yet but is merely under investigation after allegations have been made. The police now have until he is due back in September (or so I read in another post) to investigate and gather evidence, the CPS will then decide whether the evidence suggests a crime has been committed AND whether there is a realistic chance of proving guilt, only then will he be charged.
For Sunday the choice is obvious - "rest" him. If he is still with us when, and if, any charges are laid at his feet then suspension is probably the best option. The problem is what to do if he is still with us between the start of next season and the CPS decision. |  | | |

One victim was enough to bring a prosecution and *might* have led to a conviction. But Hall initially denied everything and it might easily have been one word against another. He changed his plea to guilty because dozens of victims came forward and the claim that all of them were malicious liars wouldn't stand up. But none of the other victims had even come forward until Hall was publicly named because they didn't think they would be believed.
If a man is a serial predator - and the Hall and Saville cases show they exist - then the number of victims *does* matter; its part of the pattern of behaviour and it also affects the severity of the sentence. |

Whether Holloway is making it up or not, I did once end up sharing a bed with a drunk sleeping woman who was just in her knickers (it was a very hot June evening back in '94). I was pretty wasted myself and at no point did it ever occur to me to do anything other than turn over and go to sleep.
The bizzarre thing is that a few weeks later on my birthday and in front of my friends she loudly said "yeah... and you were in bed with me and you did nothing about it. What kind of man do you call yourself?!"
I was flabbergasted as were my friends, they were repulsed by what she said. I replied immediatley "the kind of man that doesn't rape women in their sleep".
I chose not to see her or have any contact with her after that then a few years later we bumped into each other. I brought back that occurance and she was very apologetic and realised how bad she was for saying that. She was going through a rough patch in her life.
I said that's she's just bloody lucky it was me and not someone who might have done something that night. She agreed and said she was very grateful I behaved properly.

If Remy is still with us at the start of next season, and if he still hasn't been charged with a crime, then he should play if the manager judges that he is good enought to warrant a spot on the tream. The club should make a statement that they take the allegations very seriously but that a person is innocent until proven guilty and therefore he will be available to play at the manager's discretion.
None of us know what happened. And we shouldn't pretend we do. And we should not pre-judge the legal system.
I am not making light of rape in any way. But we simply do not know what happened. It is wrong to ruin a man's life over media reports that may or may not turn out to be true. We have a legal system specifically to sort out these sorts of issues. I realize that the odds are often stacked against a rape victim, but that is a societal issue that is bigger than this case and this club.
There are many possibilities, including guilt and innocence. Until the legal system has had a chance to weigh in one way of the other, it would be wrong to assume anything. I conceed that it would be hard to cheer an accused rapist, especially if he turns out to be guilty. But the same is true the other way -- if he turns out to be innocent, then a great injustice would have been done if we had treated him as though he was guilty. We don't need to feature or particularly celebrate him during the interim period, but we shouldn't shun him either. |  |

We'd been drinking in pubs all day, it was the day of the Euro '96 Final, which I never got to watch!
We got back to her place in the evening and had some food. She had been quite flirty as the evening wore on. We went into her room and basically I thought my luck was in as she stripped down to her undies. I went to the toilet, came back and she was sound asleep. She had literally passed out.
I shook her gently to see if she was actually awake but no, completely out for the count.

Unless the issue is dropped and the police state no further action, or evidence comes to light that leads to an immediate charge, we are talking that he will be with us for the first half of the season minimum, he wont be aloud to go abroad, any trial would be 3- 6 months after charge and you can bet your life someone will be desperate enough in January to pay the release clause |  | | |

Agree with all of the above. It really shouldn't take 4 months to obtain all the necesary evidence and decide if there is a case to answer but it will it we'll have to put up with alot of rubbish being wirtten about it all until then.
The best summary I've read so far on this whole sorry state of affairs is;
"Whoever the guilty & innocent parties are in this, I hope they get the justice they deserve".
