Swansea City v Sunderland : Match day thread on 22:02 - Dec 14 by sw02sea | Not as a full back he won’t. |
Would love to see him have a go on the wing. Direct, runs at players with speed and seems comfortable doing so. Wouldn't have to keep playing Abdulai out of position on the wing and we could actually have a full back who can defend.

Swansea City v Sunderland : Match day thread on 00:35 - Dec 15 with 1768 views | Whiterockin | We were beaten by a very good team, man for man they were better in every position and deserved their win. Sunderland are the best team I have seen this season and where we need to be if we want to progress as a club.

Every one of their goals yesterday were caused by our ludicrous “ mistakes” We scored two beauts but then,as Williams admitted, took foot of the pedal . Why?

Sometimes you have to credit the opposition instead of looking for reasons to bash our players and staff. They were absolute quality on and off the ball. The best side by far we have played this season. Poor runs don't come into it, it's how they play against us on the day that matters.

Poor runs absolutely come into it. How about Pompey ? They got their mojo back too. Sometimes, yiu have to accept we create our own misfortunes and we need to be brutally honest . Sunderland did not have their strongest team out by the way . Despite what you say,I don’t believe they will get promoted . Leeds will and we gifted them too.

Yes just as good as Cardiff were when they similarly turned the game around against us earlier this season. We made forced and unforced errors, pressure applied or self inflicted will do that and how to stop or cope with it needs to be sorted.

Only mentioned it as the two halves of football were similarly the polar opposites. I though the first half yesterday was excellent every one seemed to be working with an understanding of what was needed to stay relatively solid while causing them problems. Nobody could be singled out as playing badly all playing well, yes you could pick out instance or mistakes and errors but on the whole I was satisfied with being up and doing well in the game at half time But.... the second half was another story and not one we haven't seen before. There are signs of the team improving but there are issues that need to be sorted. [Post edited 15 Dec 11:10]

That's fair, but some won't accept when we play well, it's not all doom and gloom. Their second and third goal came within three minutes of our substitutions, for me that means we didn't reorganise quickly enough.

Some can't accept that when we do play well , dumbarse tactics chuck the game away We have played both Leeds and Sunderland and played well And then ... This can and should be sorted out The stick France has had from some is shocking Incredible really

yeah we played at absolute max first half and were hanging in the game by our fingertips. A great mid table performance. Couldn't sustain in second half, inevitable happened.

Sunderland blocked every conceivable outlet for us. Grimes was pushed so deep he was playing sweeper. I'm no tactician but it seems their manager did a masterclass on us. I like Luke Williams as a manager. I think he is an excellent man manager which is so important these days with players egos. My only concern is Williams tactical awareness and his ability to adapt and change tactics when required. Would love to see an experienced advisor brought into our coaching staff. Mike Phelan was appointed by Plymouth this week. Someone similar to him in experience but not a dinosaur either.

Absolutely on the money with LW and his lack of a plan B/C/D. It’s his downfall.

Yes not all doom and gloom and in my mind, deluded as it may be, I think we are building for the near future but we have a lack of experience in the team and seeing us make the same mistakes is hard. We were struggling before the substitutions which is why they were made. Someone pointed out that Sunderland shut do our outlets but surely that is what we should have done after going 2-0 up, I don't like the fact they ended with a winger unmarked out wide because Tymon was being held in inside by a play they had pushed further up. Tymon should have got in a better position to mark the winger and either Grimes or Darling pick up the extra player but bad descions were made. We needed to fiill the midfield to win the ball there, with wingers stopped similar to what many teams have done to us. We more than matched Sunderland early on and with better marking and descion making after going up we should be using quick even long balls to catch them on the counterattack not getting caught on the ball in our half.

IMO when they scored their second and third goals we were playing 3 at the back with Key pushed into midfield.

Why pull a defender out of position when we need to defend a lead, pull wingers in they can do the shuffling across the field rather our three at the back doing it and being over run as their players push forwards as they needed to. [Post edited 15 Dec 13:09]

Swansea City v Sunderland : Match day thread on 13:24 - Dec 15 with 1012 views | ReslovenSwan1 | In every day workplaces there are people that " just do enough". As Williams indicated there is a mentality problem. Mid table will do for many. Darling and Cabango want to be convinced this team is going places. Grimes must drive himself and the team forward. Conor Roberts and Ash Williams barked like a rottweilers when standards slipped.

I thought possibly wrongly that we were trying to pack the midfield while the substitutions settled in.

Spot on. Gave their wingers every opportunity secind half. They got past both full backs and crossed about a dozen times, Darling heroic clearing many crosses. And after all the warnings the winner was exactly the same. Our game management was immature. Sunderland a better team for sure, but if you do get 2 goals up at home then we should get at least a point.

Swansea City v Sunderland : Match day thread on 15:08 - Dec 15 with 865 views | Treforys_Jack | A couple of points, • It's odd how Tymon tucks in, leaving the winger / Full back acres of space to advance into to deliver crosses, must be playing the managers instruction. • 3 goals off the top of my head has resulted from it recently, Cardiff, Leeds & Sunderland have all scored virtually identical goals. • Probably gets pelters for this, bit Liam has produced some great moments recently but he doesn't half dissappear for most of the game. • Big mistakes are appearing in Cabangos game recently, sort his situation out ASAP. •Why do we continually seem to concede after making substitutions. This needs to be addressed urgently. • Loved seeing Sunderland in their traditional colours, so many teams adopt a generic black/ grey away strip.

What evidence can you provide for him being a good man manger The players doing as he tells them is why we ship games

I get that but leaving us with three at the back is wrong, you have to make sure you don't leave yourself exposed at the back by leaving players unmarked as teams try to overpower you pushing higher number up the pitch against us. They forced us to make too many errors which could not be covered by the stretched defence.
