Swansea U18 6 v 2 Colchester U18 ... 16:32 - Dec 3 with 294 viewstheloneranger

"Swansea City Under-18s' striker Morgan Bates was 'over the moon' after netting his first Swansea City hat-trick in their 6-2 victory over Colchester United.

The Swans were 2-1 up at the break thanks to fine finishes from Aidan Higgins and Bates, while a quick counter from the U's allowed Raashad Drysdale to halve the deficit.

The goals continued to come thick and fast in the second half, Milo Robinson netted his first goal of the season on the hour mark, with Bates getting his second minutes later.

Eighteen-year-old Bates then grabbed a third and completed his hat-trick to make it 5-1, meaning the former Briton Ferry man has racked up over 10 goals for all age groups so far this season.

Kai Martin pulled a goal back from the spot for the visitors, but substitute Callum Jones rounded off the scoring for the Swans.

"It feels great to have finally got a hat-trick to my name. I'm over the moon and, even more importantly, it has helped the boys get the win," said Bates.

"It was a big confidence boost to not only score three in one game, but to get a win under our belts is great because we've had a tough run, especially after not progressing through in the PDL Cup.

"The boys scored some great goals as well, and credit to them for always providing for me in the box."

Bates has also featured for the club's under-21s this season, and had relished the opportunity to feature alongisde his brother and captain, Mitchell.

"It's a nice feeling to have just joined, and instantly get some game time with the under-21s, and to top that off with my first goal against Brentford," he added.

"It's weird seeing my brother on the pitch, I think it was one of the first times we've really played together. But we just get on with the game, but we definitely look out for each other."
