Morgan isn't ready. He's not on it yet. He shows some promise but he's one of the 4 or 5 that should not be starting really.

Saito was good. And Varane. That's it.

Says something when your goalkeeper who let in four goals is one of your only bright sparks.

On his performances so far Morgan is one of the 4 or 5 that should be starting. He shows for the ball. Tracks back, looks for the right pass and isn’t hiding. The more senior players need to take a leaf out of his book.

I didn't want to post anything last night cos I was super drunk, but I've woken up still angry. Utterly abject. Nothing's keeping that rabble up, kinda hope Nourry does sack Marti, cos he deserves better than this

I disagree with this. I don't think he's playing well, not suited to both the Championship and how we're playing, but he can clearly play football. A pass last night he played was at a level nobody else in the team could play. But, I fully agree, that's not enough. His biggest problem is that he hides and doesn't work hard enough. But he can clearly play football he just needs to adapt to Championship and our style of play much quicker than what he's doing.

I think the club should make some enquiries.

I think we’re into that territory now with our home form.

Calls for drastic measures.

Force the squad to live at the ground with sleeping bags for a week in the international break. They need to change how they see and interact with the home ground.

I agree, he definitely has a great range of first touch and long passing in him, and can clearly finish, but unless he learns to battle and earn the chance to play, it's not going to matter.

He can't disappear for large chunks of the game, or hide when our defence is looking for an out ball.

Look at Boro, their equivalent 10 was picking the ball up from the defence/midfield all game. We didn't do it once.

I’d challenge your definition of play football. It’s a combination of what you can do with the ball, and what you do without it.

The former is not playing football in totality. If it were the leagues would be awash with outstanding teenage talent you see in 5 aside teams up and down the land.

What you do without the ball, both when your side has possession and when it doesn’t, is arguably more important than your technical ability with the ball at your feet. Why? Because it’s a team game. The team has to function as a unit. And only one of your team and the opposition has the ball at their feet at any given time. Most of the time when you play, you don’t have it. But what you do then without it is still critical.

If you have someone who doesn’t find space and provide an option for a pass to feet, who doesn’t press, doesn’t tackle, doesn’t track runners, does not read the game, doesn’t want physical contact, barely breaks into anything more than a trot, has no physicality or pace…does it matter if he is alright with the ball at his feet? He won’t have it enough!

He’s technically fine/good with the ball. But he can’t play the team sport that is football (at this level, of course). That’s my assessment.

Nardi is having an excellent season. I've barely seen him misplace a pass or make a mistake. But this is just stopping us from losing by more, not winning any points.

Saito looks good enough.

Varane likes the odd showy muscular challenge or switch, once or twice a game, but otherwise hides.

Madsen is effete.

Dembele is brushed aside.

Frey is still a joke, even though he had a good start to the season and Celar's making him look like prime Drogba. Zan at least had two shots on target last night...getting closer...

I feel sorry for Santos.

Morgan is a pleasant surprise, but he should be having 20 minutes here and there not starting regularly.

Chair looks like he's had enough. Treading water trying to get this team somewhere for years while is mates Bright, Ebs, Seny have their big contracts elsewhere. I'm not surprised he's run out of energy having to put up with the crud around him for so long. I'd have thought sod it and gone elsewhere by now in his position.

Besides Dunne, Cook, Smyth, Frey, Saito, this team lacks bollocks (and of those, Dunne, Smyth and Frey lack quality). No dominance. No swagger. No sense that anyone thinks they can impose themselves on the game and make something happen.

Yes, bonfire. Bonfire of the calamities.

We're not a bonfire, we're a bin-fire. No point looking for a manager, we need someone like Red Adair, who were he still alive and despite notable rescue jobs such as Piper Alpha and the Kuwait oil fields Saddam torched, would rightly tell us to fùck off.

If and when extraterrestrial life makes contact, I'm pretty sure it'll be due to the infra-red signature emanating from W12.

That's all fair of course. Possible challenges to it being the Adel's of this world that wouldn't' (excuse the pun) pass a 'without the ball test' but was arguably the best we've had in recent years.

Now Madsen is not Adel and clearly needs to do more without the ball. But for balance, the Team is playing poorly, and not playing a brand of football which will get the most from this type of player. That first half, in terms of quality, was up there with one of the worst of the season. So many misplaced passes, so many unforced errors. When you're a team playing like that you need some roll up the sleeves types to fight for you and Madsen just isn't one of them. I do think it would be interesting how he plays in a team with more confidence, with 2 full backs that offer genuine attacking threat, a forward that can keep the ball and bring people into the game, centre backs having the confidence to ping it into feed and lots of movement and people wanting the ball, but in the middle of absolute chaos, Madsen is clearly not your man.

Disagree. Adel was brilliant without the ball when we had possession. He was constantly demanding the ball and finding pockets of space between the lines in a clear passing lane for his teammate to find him. A world away from Madsen.
