Imo Joe was our best player when he came on.

Do y'all think the Franco sub was a fitness issue? That's the most baffling one for me. I get bringing in EITHER Fulton OR JA, and then take out Cooper, which was done. But it was the perfect time to move Franco to the 10 where he really belongs anyway.

This is about coaching Btw, Jow Allen really …..why another cintract. He is done . Like Naughton. Experience is one thing but it’s about energy and speed now. |
LW is at least half responsible for the result today. But a lot also falls on our best players who fell way short today, most noticeably Ronald after 11'. Love the guy, currently my favorite on the team, but he wasn't himself at all.

Fair. However the coach, any cisch of any sport ,deploys tactics enforced by the captain. It’s the rudiments of sport When it fails, it’s down to them Grimes actually gets away with murder

I have to agree Tummer, He was really sloppy today and gave the ball away an awful lot in good attacking positions,I also thought Darling had brain fog on numerous occasions throughout the match and was lucky to stay on the pitch.

⚽️ Swansea City v Cardiff City : The derby day thread on 17:16 - Aug 25 by union_jack | He can only work with what he’s got. He gambled on cool heads and experience to see the last 15 out but it didn’t work. I’m more concerned as to the space they had in Tymon’s side. One led to a goal and Colwill had a couple of triumphs there. I can see Bianchini stepping up quite soon. Hopefully another outfield player fire the window shuts. Cardiff have a very good bench. |
Fair play, you were right. I underestimated Cardiff. I thought they’d do their usual trick of trying to bully us for 15 minutes then basically surrendering once we got on top of them. Honestly thought today would be easy. I was glad of the point in the end.

We were well on top of the game in the first half but Cardiff's coach changed it at the start of the second half, he dropped their midfielder no3 Siopis deeper as well as Ramsey making our press ineffective , pulled their wingers wider, most notably Tymon didn't prevent the winger getting good ball to feet and stopping him turning, we have seen what happens when Ronald runs at defenders.Tymon's weakness has been targeted before you have to praise their coach for the changes, William's will have to learn how to counter these tactics because we have seen them used effectively against us before by the teams in the recent past especially the better teams in the division last season. Williams made more or less the same changes last weekend with the exception that Cooper stayed on for the 90, taking both of our hardest worker in Franco and Cooper off at the same time was a mistake. Cullen dropped in to midfield but it did not address the problems caused by Cardiff's changes.

Astonished he stayed on the pitch. We were good for 35 minutes…but bullied by a more physical team. Hurts me to say that. However I think with a couple of more players in there is the basis of a decent side there. But more time for the team to gel and we could surprise a few.

The result was down to the coaches using their benches - ours badly and theirs to excellent effect. If Eom wasn’t injured he should have stayed on. Perhaps LW should have taken off Cooper and replaced him with Bianchini - Eom should have gone into the middle.Like Cardiff showed changing formation can actually work ! Ronald and our defensive midfield left Tyron shockingly exposed and on the pitch the captain has to sort that out (if the manager clearly didn’t see or act upon it). Taking Franco off was the biggest gonad drop though - Fulton came on and passed the ball directly to their right winger! Grimes again guilty of hiding and overplaying losing us much needed speed in attack. I’ve seen captains subbed by a lot of teams why does he stay on when clearly not helping the team? I bet there’s some clause in his contract which would be plain wrong. Ben Cabango surely has to make way for the new Centre half now - his lack of pace belongs in the lower divisions not at this level. A few incidents after the goal should be investigated by the authorities- Ng clearly astonished at their first league goal decided to provoke the entire East stand. Should be banned for that for a good few games and Bulut keeping the ball too (even though he was sent off). In conclusion we didn’t work hard enough for the second goal while we were on top and our manager killed us with ludicrous subs. My only hope is that the loss of two points against a poorer side for most of the game actually wales the players and staff up and we go on a good run to compensate.

Luke needs an experienced number 2 in the dug out - a former manager who knows the league. Paul Watson needs an experienced head to help with our transfer strategy and approach. Coleman also needs proper support from people who have been involved with football. The lack of experience across the club is telling and this is why we will never challenge near the top. A good team would have beaten Cardiff well yesterday.

We made them look good. They could and should have been out to sleep by half time This league is going to be tough . Thus far,few clubs seem an obvious relegation candidates . Play like that and the better clubs will destroy us . Burnley destroyed Cardiff .

I came away and thought exact what you had written, as quoted below because we have seen this type of capitulation here before, especially against better teams. "My only hope is that the loss of two points against a poorer side for most of the game actually wakes the players and staff up. " We lost points in yesterdae's game, we could have lost more but after the first half preformance we should have more and even in the second half we were getting into good positions but not finishing them off. But We lost those points because of the way the team and the manager reacted to the change of style Cardiff adopted at the start of that second half and the way we played thereafter.. As a team it wasn't good enough, we saw under Martin the same capitulation and yet get good results when using the same players with differently tactics. Ths is down to coaching and down to the manager to sort out. It may take some hard decision in the short term but unless changes are tried we are not going to not be able to progress. Early days in the season but same mistakes being made.

That’s unlikely to happen as it would be too costly and would undermine them. Not that I necessarily disagree! LW was schooled yesterday by Bulut and their bench had pace and purpose. They were also far more physical which this league needs.

⚽️ Swansea City v Cardiff City : The derby day thread on 10:33 - Aug 26 with 868 views | cadleigh | We started with an incredibly high press, maybe expecting Cardiff to do the same. When they didn’t, Williams had two choices - slow it down or go for broke and hope we scored enough goals by half time to cope with the inevitable tired legs and substitutions. He went for option B and we were unlucky not to get a couple more. On another day, when this team has gelled more, I think we will. But Cullen - a great servant to the club - really is only capable of scoring one type of goal. We either needed Zan to start or a number 10 who can shoot from range, because Eom and Ronald weren’t managing to get enough crosses in for Cullen to score again. After 40 minutes we were running out of steam and they came back into the game. Second half they turned on the high press and we had nothing left in the tank. To be fair to Darling, I thought most of our attacks started with him (whereas Cabango generally passed back to Vigy). Darling did make a couple of errors and went down rather easily when defending, but going forward he showed real leadership. And while I agree that Grimes slows down our attacks, at least he and Fulton didn’t revert to their usual tippy tappy game when Jay came on.

⚽️ Swansea City v Cardiff City : The derby day thread on 10:34 - Aug 26 with 865 views | GVJack | I thought we were by far the better team yesterday and should have won quite comfortably. The reason we didn't is simply down to the lack of number of occasions we put the ball into the 6yard box. Fair play to Cardiff they did a smash and grab and came away with a deserved point in the end. I thought we were too precautions with the subs we made and when we made them. At 60 minutes we were still on top but just couldn't put Cardiff away. We needed the second goal before looking to protect the lead. I watched the game on TV whilst.out in Spain, so didn't get the chance to see much happening off the ball, but I did think Darling was excellent yesterday, he was defensively strong both in the tackle and aerial ability, and carried the ball up the pitch well. He's a player we need to tie down longer term with an improved contract. I'm not Cullens biggest fan as an out and out striker as I just.dont see him getting the goals we need but fair play to him he worked his socks off yesterday again. I'd love to see him converted to an attacking midfielder.
