The need for further signings and quality ones at that were clearly highlighted tonight.

What a very odd game, Swans go through to round two on 00:42 - Aug 14 with 1570 views | Boundy | Pretty much as I saw the match , so frustrating to watch a player who can offer so much more going forward do so little and yet score a goal ." After that the likes of Abdulai slowed the game down as good as any Matt Grimes moment. He chose persistently to pass backwards when his role was clearly to attack and use what pace he has to threaten the defence of the Gills. "

What a very odd game, Swans go through to round two on 06:15 - Aug 14 with 1446 views | jackal | Why are we so reluctant to put the ball into the box? Playing a team from a lower league with ten men and still no penetration. The defenders may as well not go up for corners, because the ball is always played short and passed back. Ironically when Gillingham crossed, they scored. Vipotnik did very little because he was never given the ball. On a positive note Ronald was excellent. [Post edited 14 Aug 7:54]

Luke Williams loves short corners. There's a video online where he bangs on about the statistical benefit of them, which is the first thing that worried me.

There were a number of corners both against Gillingham and Middlesbrough where our tall defenders did not go up for the corners, maybe that was because Williams think we are not able to compete aerially hence the goal concede by us at the end of the game, must say that goal seemed to be because all our players attacking the thrown in ball en masse causing the chaos in our ranks. One point to note was in a an earlier defensive corner Vipotnik was on hand to aerially defend the near post corner just as Ayew was adept at doing, if he can use his aerial skills at the other end it will be good to see. Altogether a game we were expected to win and did but it was laboured stuff and still think we leave ourselves wide open to counter attacks which is most probably why the risk of losing the ball is countered by safe passages of play. There were players on the pitch who seem to want to up the tempo but were dragged into line by in my opinion bad team setup. Must say there was a moments of good play, one being in the middle of the park were Franco while still facing our goal where he stroked the ball around quickly and then with his good fast movement had the defensive player return the ball quickly and Franco then used the returned ball to good effect very reminiscent of movement by Allen, Leon and Rangel in days gone by. My thought was I hope he establishes himself as the main play maker in the middle of the field.

Morning Rich Looks to me the players seem strangled by him and what he is trying to do . I’m sure they could be better if they were given some freedom . Personally, the obsession with Grimes and Fulton negates anything remotely good. Branco CAN be the main man . He has skill and real dog about him . He will get several yellow cards for sure . God help us

What a very odd game, Swans go through to round two on 08:16 - Aug 14 with 1242 views | Whiterockin | Last night as it was on Saturday we seem obsessed with playing it wide. OK stretch the defence by all means, buts lets have some intelegent runs through the middle and quick balls in the space that the width creates.

Painful seeing players actually stop on the edge of opponents box and pass backwards . A ten man team opposition at that

You have to have your dogs in the team in some respects the more the merrier and if they have others skill even better but you do need players with different attributes to get the best out of a team. Ronald and Eom have shown a step up in quality in them Key has pace to burn but how best to use them. I think Abdulai is a player with good quality hope we can get the best out of him but we have got to remember he needs more experience and with that I'm sure he should force himself onto the first choice team sheet. But most important is the coaches abilities to wrap his team around players qualities in both attack and defence and not stifle them and the team. Attack may be the best form of defence but when that breaks down you must have players in positions to be able to defend.

It’s not good is it I feel there are some players of decent quality but they are being misused .

What a very odd game, Swans go through to round two on 09:16 - Aug 14 with 1075 views | KeithHaynes | Playing a player out of position in Abdulai didn’t work. He is a far better player more central. I’ve never ever seen such negativity from one player as I did last night. And I include Grimes in that. He killed every move.

Morning Keith But why? Surely it is obvious to a blind man that what we are doing is plain stupid. Zan looks hungry and want is to do well, but incredibly he is being frozen out ,as if he has Leprosy . I was actually not chuffed to see Cullen score as they means Williams will select him before The Slove. I’ve not seen a business so badly run as ours for many years . Last night was the game to try something different which meant removing Grimes from the scene ,if only for one game . Preston won last night against Sunderland too.

He’s not being frozen out. He’s not match fit. 30 minutes at Middlesbrough, 70 last night. As soon as he’s ready for 90, he’ll be playing it.
