Worst ever Saints team? 08:30 - Jun 6 with 4484 views | saint901 | I put up a thread asking you for your best ever Saints team. Those players who you have enjoyed watching and would like to see together via a time machine. Is it too cruel to ask for a team of those who made you cringe or cry out in frustration?
Worst ever Saints team? on 18:44 - Jun 6 with 1096 views | PatfromPoole | I am going to take the dubious honour of being the first player to say Paul Moody. To think Branfoot dropped MLT and put him in the team instead. Other players who I remember being particularly bad who I don’t think have had a mention….. (apologies if I missed them being mentioned….) Calum Davenport Sergei Gotsmanov David Lee Gregory Vignal Ryan Smith Vincent Pericard Scott Marshall Matt Paterson Leon Best (for Derby away alone) [Post edited 6 Jun 18:45]

Worst ever Saints team? on 16:34 - Jun 6 by franniesTache | And still so many missing, players like Stig Johanson (i think i spelt that right?), Scott Hiley, Van Gobbel, and i'm sure there's more lurking in brain somewhere too |
Van Gobbel was like an absolute man mountain, with legs like tree trunks. He was fast, and was ok when he remembered to take the ball with him. [Post edited 6 Jun 19:27]

Sorry, not a fan by any means, but I thought Carlton Palmer was decent the first year he arrived with us. Van Gobbel deserves some credit as although touted as one of the fastest players in the league, he needed to be as his first touch was blöody woeful. In his early days with us I would have said Chrissy Marsden football genius, but hats off to him, when he firmed up that partnership with Bridge he actually improved…. [Post edited 6 Jun 20:08]

Forgot about Danny Fox, he was a poor player. I only ever saw Paul Moody play once and that was for Fareham as they played some cup final against Kidderminster at the Dell and he looked pretty good at that level. Bit different to the Premier league I guess! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Probably partially responsible for Branfoot getting sacked was Moody. When that idiot started picking him ahead of Le Tiss Branfoot's spell was basically over

Worst ever Saints team? on 13:32 - Jun 7 with 800 views | Butty101 | Tommy Forepast should be in this discussion, but he was so bad that he never got near the first team. In July 2008, Forecast was signed by Southampton for an undisclosed fee on a five-year contract.[6] Forecast's transfer from Tottenham to Southampton was a result of a renegotiation of Gareth Bale's sell-on clause, who had made the reverse move in the previous season, after Southampton entered financial troubles.[7] On 13 August 2009, Forecast joined Grimsby Town on a one-month loan following an injury to Town's first-choice goalkeeper Nick Colgan.[8] Forecast made his full professional debut the following day for Grimsby against Crewe Alexandra in a 4–0 defeat, The Crewe Chronicle described Forecast's debut as "one of the most shockingly inept displays the Football League has ever seen

Worst ever Saints team? on 17:42 - Jun 6 by TripleNiemi | Agree, surprised to see Kachloul named tbh |
I suppose looking back he was unlucky to make my team. At the time I was in the Netherlands more than England and everytime I saw him play live he had a stinker so it could have been any one of a number of suspects

Ian Andrews had a few decent games if i remember rightly, the problem was he was following Timmy who's up there as one of the best we've had

Interesting that you consider Danny Fox to be one of our worst players , whilst it cannot be argued that he was not Premier League quality , in the Championship he was a vital part of the squad, out of the 42 games he cold have played after joining, he started 38 plus another 4 as sub. But the main statistic was his number of assists, he had 11 in total, he was the main provider for Rickie Lambert especially from dead ball situations, the most remembered being the one he put right on Lambert's head at Fratton Park. So very unfair to select him as one of the worst players seen

No Ian Andrews was terrible. I can remember a few games (possibly Leciester) were he dived over the ball and another one where the ball bounced over him when he dived.

Deffo worse than Davis and Andrews and as another poster said forecast doesn’t count. He’s had nearly 2 years of saving f&ck all, if he’d been fit we would never have won the play offs and I think McCarthy is sh1t as well but not as sh1t
