Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 18:22 - Mar 2 by 442Dale | Didn’t see today, but I trust the reports of those who did and, yes, it’s sounds a poor display with that tempo missing again. That’s happened far too often in 2024. But was Tuesday “McNulty Ball” as well? |
I'm overseas currently so could watch the game. It was pathetic tactics. Nothing else. Tuesday shows what we can do if we attack. Today shows the negative rubbish if we don't get on the offensive. Nothing else to comment on .
Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 19:23 - Mar 2 with 3879 views | Rodingdale | The problem is if the opposition watch us and understand how we play, and plan accordingly. Ie press and close down passing options. The fact is we are very easy to play against. On Tuesday Wealdstone had no plan and allowed us to do what we wanted to. This is particularly the case for the poorer sides in the league who are well organised, we just look so easy to play against. The fan forum was bizarre to listen to for me. The fans who spoke articulated nothing but gratitude to Jim. So I know I’m an outlier in my view, but to me the jury really is out on whether he is Head Coach material. I want him to prove me wrong, he’s clearly a lovely bloke but bloody hell the football we play is quite rubbish a lot of the time.

Not counting any chlorinated chickens, but it'll be very interesting to see how the coaching set up at Dale evolves once under the control of a sports management outfit

Similar theme to several other games too where we've let the game drift away before making any obvious changes when its too late, his in game management still needs a hell of a lot of work.
Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 20:15 - Mar 2 with 3645 views | sxdale | Highlight of the game today was that the bar was open throughout the match which helped to numb the anger at that abject display. Was really hoping that we could get something from today and maybe go on a run with games against 2 teams in the relegation positions coming up. I should know better by now. Also a mention for the stewarding today, was excellent and managed to have a few beers while watching the game.
Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 20:37 - Mar 2 with 3568 views | NorthernDale | According to McNulty, Mellor and Sinclair are injured, and Clayton was suspended today and is suspended on Tueaday. He also came out with the sames lines, including we should not have lost, background noises (what is happening at the club), he seems unable to admit his possession tippy tappy pedestrian (sorry total options football) was partially to blame. I like McNulty and he as done well, under difficult circumstances, but at the same time his tactics and preferred style of play have cost us this season. The question is can he learn and change?
Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 22:25 - Mar 2 with 3342 views | fermin | Just listened to Jim's interview. I can't believe he thought we deserved to win. We could barely pass to one another and they always seemed to win the ball off us. A large proportion of the game was around our box because they put us under pressure as we tried to pass it out. We had a bit of momentum after Uchegbulam came on but it didn't last long enough. A pretty easy game for their keeper, especially the first half, when the only thing he really had to do was pick the ball out of the net after our unexpected goal. I hope we do better on Tuesday as it was pretty frustrating today. Their first goal was just ridiculous. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No it was far far from the stuff that lost us the defeats before we upped it at Chesterfield and mullered Wealdstone midweek......that's the gripe, we can do it and I think fans were expecting a run to continue.

Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 17:35 - Mar 2 by D_Alien | That's very disappointing I thought we might just be able to put a bit of run together. We look safe enough (unlikely all the teams below us will suddenly start winning regularly) but i'd count today as some kind of last hope of gaining momentum for one last push up the table. A draw would've done Football -wise, this season will be easily forgotten as off-the-pitch events won't. Just want it to end now and achieve a stable base for 24/25 |
Disappointing was my view. This will never catch on as a spectator sport. Twice in the first half Clayton used expletives calling for more energy. There was no room on the pitch for either side to exploit, may have been an illusion but the pitch seemed small. Defenders always had the upper hand. I could see the point in playing short from goal kicks as they pressed with 3 or 4 every time. It was an opportunity to find space, but we simply couldn’t execute and paid the price. Giving up the tactic in the second half. Sadly Rodney was way of the pace, had the touch of Liz Truss. We had to hook him. I hope he is ok. Because that was out of character. We ended up surrendering the what little momentum we built in the second half. It’s frustrating watching Hayes with his arrm in the air calling for a simple pass that doesn’t come. We conceded two and Brooks never made a save all game. How? The only bright spot was Mitchell scoring. He needed that.
Refwatch: Ebbsfleet United v Rochdale on 11:14 - Mar 3 with 2607 views | samueloneils | I have never criticised JM on this forum up to this point, and I sympathise with losing three key players at one go. but we are beginning to flirt with relegation ( with Barnet next). That would be disaster. The manager is responsible for pushing the players to change tempo, and too many times they start off at low movement levels. Surely a fast start is essential here, then slip into the steady passing moves if the game progresses well. I agree we have been "worked out" by other teams beforehand.

Our last 6 home games are against teams 10th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 23rd and 24th. If we can’t get a decent haul from those game then we deserve to be relegated !!!

That was a bad performance. A high tempo destroyed Wealdstone, but we just didn’t look like we wanted to play beyond first gear today. Rodney is a decent league player who I think would have torn this league up had he not suffered so much from illness and injury. BUT that was one of the worst individual performances I’ve seen. He couldn’t even control the ball, let alone do anything with it. He was so bad I’m actually concerned that he’s had a setback with illness. Jez is a complete and utter waste of space. He just isn’t a footballer. As soon as Jim had the opportunity to drop him he was gone. Now we’ve got injuries to Mellor and Sinclair and Jez got another undeserved opportunity. He plodded around the pitch doing absolutely nothing. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a player who is so uninterested in playing football. As for Ebbsfleet itself, wow what a place. Fingers crossed the fixture generator drops that in a Tuesday night slot next season.

The game was beyond boring to watch from a Dale perspective (felt like a punishment). The commentator actually said.... Dale keep slowing it down, walking football, no leaders. I have never bought into the 'big Jim' fan club. I think he has many excellent qualities but he talks in clichés, whines and seems to lack judgement (did he really say he though we could have won?). As to the Chairman - I invite you all to watch the first 5 minutes of the fans forum on Youtube. Take a look at SG's body language when Jim arrives - make you own mind up about what SG really thinks about Jim.

Your comment pushed me into watching the FF opening again. SG comes across with the negative posture of arms crossed and SG even givez JM the cold shoulder aswell by turning away to his right. Both of them SG and JM do not even acknowledge each other

Using the example of the over-60s "walking football" initiative in the media to demonstrate Dale's community credentials, one would think he'd be a huge fan of JM [Post edited 5 Mar 14:13]

He was hoping the ball would run into the area so he could pick it up, but panicked when it slowed down, resulting in a hurried and misdirected clearance to Poleon. Shame really, as he's generally done well so far.
