FFP result with finances out. 07:34 - Feb 20 with 19169 views | Philothesuperhoop | So does this mean that we’ve just snuck under the allowable FFP losses? Does anyone have the financial results and the ability to interpret them. I.e. know what losses can be deducted from the totals?

FFP result with finances out. on 10:39 - Feb 20 by BAWHoops | Yeah they've definitely chucked stuff overboard. Shodipo and Niko gone as well. Fox, Cook, Begovic, Colback, Smyth you'd imagine aren't coming close to what was jettisoned in the summer wages wise. |
I'd bet Colback, begovic and Cook are on decent money

FFP result with finances out. on 10:08 - Feb 20 by JamesB1979 | Well Millwall had 155 in their last set of accounts. But it’s also more that if you are close to the FFP line, you’ve got to reduce cost. Biggest cost is people and to reduce people by 2 doesn’t seem like much of a cost reduction. |
Unless that two is Ferdinand and Ramsey?

FFP result with finances out. on 10:29 - Feb 20 by Northernr | The £10m figure actually came from Beale in a supporter meeting. He said there was a £10m+ shortfall that the club needed to find in 18 months time. I know he's full of sht but the figures are all there and it adds up. Yeh it's going to be super tight, but that they felt able to do a little bit of business at the end of January presumably means they think they're ok. Some money for Dieng and Dickie. 5 loans with all their associated fees and wages out, and we haven't loaned anybody this season until Hayden and Hodge who we're seemingly not paying for. Amos, Balogun, Bonne, Dickie, Dieng, Dozzell, Johansen (top earner), Lowe, Martin all off last year's wage bill. Ferdinand. |
I think that £10m hole was probably envisaged to be covered with some significant sales - Willock, Chair for example - and more than we ended up getting for Dieng and Dickie. Given Willock didn't go anywhere and we won't get anything for him, and Chair is still here and will be when the books close for 23/24 I would guess that there remains a huge gap. Cutting the wage bill would only likely make a dent in that.

How ridiculous though that even knowing this then we still agreed to his "I'm only coming if you don't sell Dieng, Willock or Chair" AND then indulged him with a load of sht signings.

I was under the impression that Begovic was the top earner. Given his lack of footwork and distribution I don't think we're getting value for money. I would also expect to see some hard nosed releases, e.g.Gubbins, Archer, SDM, Kakay, etc

But don’t we have to get the loss down by over 50% for year from June 2023 to May 2024? Doesn’t give us much time. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
FFP result with finances out. on 11:35 - Feb 20 with 2972 views | lassel | Wages/Turnover was still at 96%. Whilst it’s down from the year before at 110%, it gives an insight into how catastrophically they will have had to slash the wage bill this season to not fail. And why the likes of Cook, Colback, Andersen and Frey are playing for peanuts this season.

And this for me is the big point. I think the buys the year before were not the big mistake (it seems a bit bizarre to me it gets so much abuse, when they were all frees, one left by January, and one by the following summer): the big mistake was not selling the following summer to make up for it. Anyway. Onwards and upwards.

I think Begovic is on more like £8.5k per week, not £32.5k. Cook is on £30k, but part of the wages are covered by Nottingham Forest, so its more like £20k.

FFP result with finances out. on 08:38 - Feb 20 by BAWHoops | We *should* be over the worst of it now tbf. Next set of accounts will likely show more losses, but basically that we chucked everything overboard and the losses should come down from £20m to something not resembling a trainwreck. That decision not to sell a couple of players in Summer 2022 is looking like an all timer from QPR. Willock, Chair, Dickie, Dieng all would've comfortably fetched close to £10m and massively, massively eased the pain |
Do you mean £10m in total for those four?

I have no idea how 'market value' of sponsorship is worked out. I imagine there must be rules around this, to stop owners essentially donating income to the clubs. One thing that does occur to me around the value of Stoke's sponsorship vs ours: I suspect fans visiting their stadium are more likely to do online betting, than fans visiting Loftus Road are to invest in Mittal steel or put any money the way of whatever the hell it is that Matrade do. It's all well and good us fans saying "Why didn't the owners do this sponsorship lark sooner, there's easy cash they could have been giving QPR every year?" But what's in it for Matrade? Is this sponsorship really worth much to them?

FFP result with finances out. on 10:03 - Feb 20 by Northernr | Well, you can certainly see why it's tight this season! Oh for the glory days of summer when I was told we'd have £10m+ to spend because we reduced costs so much last season and have had all the additional extras from Palace for Eze. |
Think there were a few of us in that same boat as you, Clive. I thought there was a chance we’d have breached last season, but it appears thankfully not, although a LOT closer than others thought it would be. However, there is a very significant chance we will have breached this season. Finding 10-12m in reduced costs and/or player sales is hard. I don’t think the player changes mentioned on this thread are sufficient to get there. I reckon they’ll eat half way into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chair is sold before the end of June so that income sits in this current season’s accounts and gets us to parity. In fact, I would suggest the deal may already be done, hence why we went and signed some players on peanuts in the window. Luckily no one will know for sure until this time next year. So we probably need to aim to be 10 points clear of safety come the end of next season just in case.

Agree, Hunter. Clearly Chair almost went at the end of the window, the fact he didn't makes me think they must know he's going in the summer.

Is it?? Didn’t Forest just go through the whole rigamarole with the Johnson sale where if their case is that if they’d sold him in June they’d be fine, whereas July meant the income fell into the next year’s accounts. Also, I could have sworn contracts run to the 30th June and the football financial season works from that. If it is May, the point still stands about Chair going before 31st May then. Does the ramifications of the above, often complex, deliberations mean that Queens Park Rangers Football Club will be deducted league points at any stage of the present 2023-2024 Championship season? And if not, is there any chance that any/all of Sheff Wed/Birmingham/Millwall/Stoke/Huddersfield will be in said season? Because that would be nice. Thanks.

Our financial year end is 31st May & contracts end 30th June. It does seem stupid to me that they don't coincide! I think that a player could agree a transfer outside of the transfer window & although they can't be registered with their new club, the sale would be in this years accounts. This is conjecture from me & not a definite! [Post edited 20 Feb 13:03]
