Ivan Toney w@nk fest on 12:21 - Jan 21 by Jimthehip | This is the bit that I couldn't tolerate The fact that he literally thinks Brentford are too small form and that's he's way too good for them. We've had players like that and I'd rather see an Osman Kaykay trying his best than an Ivan Toney literally laughing at us |
So, you're definitely not Todd Kane then.

Ivan Toney w@nk fest on 09:32 - Jan 21 by Toast_R | Served his ban, move on. Great player tbf. Imagine taking Les Ferdinand out of the 1993 to 1995 QPR team for 8 months. You saw what happened when he was eventually sold. That's going to be Brentfords dilemma next season.. |
No dilemma. When we saw how good he was, therefore how valuable, it was always only going to be a question of when we sold him, not whether, and for how much. When you look at the goals he's scored and the profit he will make, his account with BFC will still be in credit when it happens, even despite being overdrawn for 8 months. And as for his replacement, if he's not already at the club (Kevin Shade?), then you can be sure that they have their eye on replacement(s) and will make their move early. See eg Hogan < Maupay < Watkins < Toney: all scored goals, all sold/to be sold for a big profit. [Post edited 21 Jan 17:30]

Ivan Toney w@nk fest on 12:16 - Jan 21 by MedwayR | Massively over the top and cringeworthy. He treats his club like they're beneath him and yet they still worship him. His ban for betting could've put Brentford's position in the prem in danger yet the club/fans don't seem to mind. It's up there with chelsea worshipping Terry, Liverpool backing Suarez, and Utd idolising Cantona. Football fans are a strange breed. |
So, a late-developing 27 y.o. who wants to secure a place in the England squad for his first (likely only) time at a World Cup, wants to leave his mid-table PL team for a top team which plays in Europe etc, while also receiving 4 or 5 times his salary. While the mid-table club in question stands to make a £50m/60m/70m? profit on the deal? When has anything like this ever happened in football before, eh? There is no "disrespect" in making his intentions/ambitions clear, which is why the club has no problem with him. While he's remained hugely popular with his teammates and other club staff throughout this whole episode - a few gobby, idiot "fans" on Twitter notwithstanding. Or are people confusing him with Joey Barton or Jordan Henderson? P.S. The handful of small bets which he placed on his own team were all while he was out on loan to another club i.e. when he was in no position to influence the result personally. Which is not to defend him - I certainly don't - but in taking them into account, I'd say an 8 month ban was about right. [Post edited 21 Jan 17:47]

Were I English, I'd agree. I'd never pick him ahead of Kane (obv), or even alongside him. But I assume Southgate will be building his attack around Kane, so that should he get injured/suspended, IT is the ideal, indeed only, alternative to step-up in his place

There is a massive difference between replacing a top striker in the Premier League to the Championship. Unfortunately your not going to be able to replace like for like as what happens when most small clubs are promoted to the PL.

What do you reckon then? We should wait until his contract runs down (summer 2025), then watch him leave for free? IT is no different from a dozen or more players whom we've bought for a relatively small sum, enjoyed the benefit of their time with the club, then sold for a big profit, which will be reinvested in the team in turn, while also keeping us well within FFP limits. It's how the club operates, and if IT wasn't the first to come and go, neither will he be the last.

Of course the difference is massive and yep, like-for-like will be well nigh impossible. But what do you reckon we should do? Keep him til he walks out on a free? Or just give up on trying to stay in the PL? Hell, why bother trying to get promoted in the first place? I have no doubt BFC have been planning for his departure almost from the day he arrived (or had he turned out to be a dud). And while it's a shame he has to leave, nonetheless I'm looking forward to see what they come up with. And if Plan B doesn't work out and we get relegated, then so be it - we've been in the Championship (or worse) before, so it won't kill us if/when it happens again.

He was on a winter sun break in Dubai, he was trying to impress some bird who egged him on, said it with a smile on his face and, er, that's it. Of course some entitled, juvenile Bees fans were "outraged" by it, but the rest of us just shrugged our shoulders on a "Footballer behaves like a bit of a prat" basis and looked forward to his return. On which last point, everyone agrees that he was exceptionally committed to his training and rehabilitation schedule, meaning that he's the fittest player at the club just now and able to hit the ground running.

Whoosh. Tremendous player, no argument there at all. Take a step back mate - the f Brentford video was a shocker. Same old scenario - that would have cost an average player his career at your club, which he thinks is below him. That’s ok, but keep it to yourself. He will go on to play elsewhere. I think it’s his lack of respect for Brentford and self entitled arrogance that gets on peoples’ tits.

Had it been an average player, no-one would even have noticed, never mind cared. Young men with lots of money and a degree of "celebrity" often do stupid things, not just in football, but in life generally. The point being that this particular idiocy in no way affected his game or relationship with his teammates/club staff. Which while he's still at the club is all I really care about. It's a big decision, but he comes across as someone quite happy to run his contract down. In 12 months he can sign on a free for a foreign club. So in 6 months time he'll only have potentially 6 months left to be sold. I can't see him being replaced.

Ivan Toney w@nk fest on 13:43 - Jan 21 by HamptonR | Some players were jailed in the 1960s for match fixing. |
They certainly were, including a player who would have been in the England 1966 World Cup team. However, there crime was to throw matches rather than bet on them. I don't think Toney was accused of doing that & the pools was the only legal way to bet on football at that time.

He will go, the only question being whether it's January or the summer. In that respect, it's not actually his decision, but the club's. Now had Bees been in a better position, and (more importantly) had there been a buyer* out there with stupid money to spend, it would have been this month. But if not, it will be the summer, count on it. * - Chelsea? [Post edited 21 Jan 19:26]

Ivan Toney w@nk fest on 20:00 - Jan 21 with 1348 views | Konk | I have always thought that Toney seems like a proper cun t, so I can definitely see him at Chelsea. Talking about ' manifesting' goals and victories - what a fuc king twa t. And sorry, but any supporter with an ounce of self-respect for their club, doesn't dismiss the 'fu ck Brentford' video with a shrug of the shoulders. If that was a Fulham player doing that, I'd be setting my alarm 2 hours early every day to boo the cun t some more. We all know that players see small PL teams like ours as stepping stones, but it's not often they make it as obvious as Toney has. One of my best mates is an Albion fan and seemingly like everyone at Brentford, he has fallen into the trap of thinking they've cracked football forever, will always appoint great coaches and sign 12 year olds from Latin America for £30 that they can sell a fortnight later for £4bn. Difficult thing to pull off with everyone else scouting the same markets. Probably still one or two Swans with the same conviction after their golden period, The fact the Toney seems to see himself as the victim with his suspension shows he's a king-sized cun t. A proper bad apple. [Post edited 21 Jan 20:44]
