I'm not sure you grasped the point of the question. It relates to Martin trying to do something but just because he is trying, it doesn't mean he will achieve it.

Cullen is trying but isn't achieving, Martin is trying but up until now has not achieved anything.

The support Martin has gotten from some on here when it has been 12 months of mediocrity at best, is quite astonishing. Same win ratio as Bob Bradley apparently and Bradley didn't get this support, he didn't last 12 months either. Martin has been very lucky so lets hope he has now got his head around a few things such as that goal kick routine is a mess and learned the lessons so we can move forward succesfully.

The goal kick routine is just a very poorly thought out routine, They do he same one every week so other teams can have a counter routine for it.

The player stood by the defender at the kick off. Because Fisher was so close (Duh) the pressing player spinted to Fisher causing a mis kick and the ball hitting the cross bar and under hitting the follow up header.

As routines go it is a stinker. Hopefully WAS.

It creates a very brief, one man numerical advantage. That would be fine if we had the guile and impetus to take advantage of that, but we’re way too slow moving from defence to attack.

At the moment, it’s just risk without any reward.

I doubt we’ll see it again if Benda keeps his place.

One of the issues for for Martin is his lack of experience.
It is a shame that a Calderwood type character was not installed during the Summer.

Chairman or CEO?
And I am not convinced we can afford to sack him and his backroom staff and appoint a new coaching team.

"If Cullen is trying to be the best footballer in the world… should we start him upfront every week?"

No, because he's not as good as Piroe, who is also trying to be the best footballer in the world. We've got a choice of strikers who are trying to be the best striker in the world, so we play the best of them.

We have one manager.

See how it works?

Nope, you don’t seem to have understood the question.

It's quite simple really. Cullen may well be "trying to be the best footballer in the world", but that's not enough to get a starting place every week because he's not as good as Piroe.

Martin may well be trying to be the best manager in the world .... irrelevant because he's the only manager we have.

The analogy doesn't work.

But being the only man in the position to do it currently doesn’t mean he’s doing well or doesn’t mean we should be happy with his performance, just because you like “what he’s trying to do”.

Trying to do something and having the ability to do it - are very far apart.

Cullen trying to be the best player in the world is irrelevant to his ability to do it. Whether he is the only striker we have or if we have other options doesn’t make any impact on the point at hand.

The analogy works perfectly, it appears you just didn’t grasp it.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors (which exists to approve the corporate strategy and scrutinise the way the executive team - ie the people employed to execute the strategy - is performing) of Swansea City Football Club is also the Chief Executive Officer (ie the principal officer on the executive side, who has to account to the Board which, er, he chairs). This is not unusual in family owned firms or small start ups. It is pretty weird in a business of the size of our club.

Poll: How long would you give Russell Martin to turn things around?
