I think this really is the sh*t or bust season with Shodipo. He definitely has *pace (*pending injuries) and some talent. They obviously still see potential there (hopefully before he retires) and perhaps they see him as being a BOS type player? He is very quick when fit. It's either that or he has photos of one of the board dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz?

Never knowingly right.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s QP, as the R has left the building.

Perhaps timing would not permit, but I would have thought the new manager - whoever and whenever that is - would have wanted to assess players before there was a clean out on the one hand and extensions on the other.

Unless it has been Eustace the whole time and they're delaying the announcement for some reason. He'd be the only senior coach with the ability to make those decisions, I would have thought?

Never knowingly right.

Our academy youngsters seem to be of national league standard or lower. Does that also suggest b-tam or u23 players are also no better than league 2 standard hence Warburton refusal to include them in championship squad? Note duke-McKenna, Masterson, gubbins, drewe, kelman all got loans at struggling league 2 and national league sides. This is a concern with our develop within model. Does that mean the players are not good enough, or perhaps the coaches are not good enough? Where and when is the next Darnell furlong?

Masterson and Kelman were both on loan at league 1 level albeit for a team that got relegated, but they were playing in a poor team often against better opposition and applied themselves well. So may have been quite beneficial for their development.

Masterson may still need a loan this season, not sure but should be able to get one at league 1 level easily after his time with Cambridge and Gillingham. However Kelmans lack of goals last year may make it hard for him to get another loan at league 1.

If Masterson is not within touching distance of first team reserve next season, I don’t have much hope for him to break into the squad. Another season of loan at league one level (or perhaps lower?) will put him into the old “young” player category, he’s already 23. Really hope next season will be his break through year. Is he no better than Sanderson, hand on heart?

I disagree (respectfully)

From what I’ve seen of both I’d take Masterson over Sanderson every day.
Masterson always showed a great attitude and has good ability on the ball. He also looked a bit of a leader – look at the game at Gimpin Park where he was thrown in at the deep end and was actually marshalling our defence (okay we shipped three goals but would’ve been more I’d say if it wasn’t for his performance).
Sanderson showed me the complete opposite of that in his short time with us

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

He didn't stand out as being head and shoulders over the other defenders at Gillingham, although they were more solid when they changed to a back 5 and brought in Masterson. The feedback I got from ST holders was that he was ok but not better than Tucker who's younger.

I only watched their last game of the season on TV and it seemed to be accurate. At one point when there was an opportunity for an easy pass into the channel but he played it straight to the opposition and set up a counter which would probably get punished at this level. From what I saw he was strong and good in the tackle but maybe needs to work on his passing and positioning, although Max Ehmer was organising the defence which may not have been helping him.

I think he could do a job here it's just likely he wouldn't get many minutes, so could be detrimental to his development. It's a tough call.

Being an ex Livepool player, you would think his passing would be ok. Could it be that he is struggling with the pressure of first team football?

gillingham improved defensively after he came in, although hard to say whether that's down to him, a change of formation etc etc.
It's also worth noting that how good a player looks can be very much influenced by those who surround him - playing alongside good players can make you look better, but playing alongside lesser players can make you look worse. Not every player who does well for us will stand out as much as Eze and Chair did in their lower league loan periods - they have a skill set most at this level don't.
With regards to going out on loan to lower levels, there is a young lad from the island at Wigan who spent some time on loan in the conference, and talked about how much it helped him in terms of the physicality of the games.
lets not write our youngsters off just yet. I think it is a shame they weren't given the motivation of at least vacant substitutes places last season - how would that make you feel? Poor people management in my opinion.

I've only watched 1 game on TV and the final game of the season with relegation on the line, so possibly pressure. Possibly a one off, possibly part of the team strategy hard to tell.

Dont know much about Frailing but the other 2 were nailed on from way back. Carlyle had loans in National League, without pulling up trees. Amrit was on loan at Crawley and barely got a look in.

Something very strange went wrong for Bansal-McNulty in his second loan spell at Crawley. He didn't feature at all in the starting 11 or on the bench.

Isn't it Crawley where the manager recently got fired for alleged racism?
Concerning that we are sending young players on loan to clubs like Oldham (Bettache) and Crawley which seem to be shambolically run or worse. Do we not do any due diligence or are our young players such unattractive prospects we have to send them to any club that will take them?

I had high hopes for Bansal-McNulty but he hasn't done anything of note in his loan spells at Como, Crawley, Torquay or Dartford.

Flailing looked too slight to make an impression at our level.
Bansal-McNulty looked the part in the u23 games I’ve watched but hasn’t taken his chance when out on loan which is a shame.

This a 100%
I never want to see Virgil van Sanderson ever wear a QPR shirt again the bloke sums up what is wrong with the modern young premiership player
Masterson needs to be back in our squad for next year

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Yes thats a fair argument and I have thought Masterson was at least ok when he played in the first team and had high hopes so i am not suggesting he isnt worth his squad place.

I think Sanderson will turn out to be the better footballer by some way in the long run as i think he has more raw ability although theres obviously plenty of work to do. Only time will tell
