QPR Silky Skills XI 13:58 - Apr 28 with 4521 views | The_Beast1976 | A team of the most skillful (on the ball) QPR players you have witnessed live (so not just seen on tv) in what could be considered one of their usual positions e.g. you can't put a forward at centre back!: GK (difficult one for obvious reasons) - Lee Camp RB - David Bardsley LB - Clive Wilson CB - Andy Tillson CB - Terry Fenwick (I was very young back then so not 100% on this one) RM - Andy Impey LM - Andy Sinton CM - Adel Tarrabt CM - Eberechi Eze F - Roy Wegerle F - John Byrne [Post edited 28 Apr 2020 14:08]

Stejskal suffered horribly from the backpass rule. I remembering him cocking up horribly with the ball at his feet twice in a game against Palace.

Yes very strange. When he and Darren Peacock arrived on the same day in 1990 (out of Bobby Gould's little black book) Tillson was actually rated as the better of the two of them. Things didn't really take off for him though the way they did for Peacock. Talking of Peacock, used to see him and Les on nights out in Ealing Broadway back in the 90s

Rodney long before my time. I had Super Ray in there originally, but then wanted to include Eze. Suppose I could have put Eze up front instead of Johnny Byrne. Remember Super Ray's goal against Wimbledon away like it was yesterday. Absolutely sublime that was. We won 2-0 that day. There wasn't actually that many of us in the away end, but at least we had the middle pen (rather than the corner pen Palace used to give us)

QPR Silky Skills XI on 14:57 - Apr 28 with 3520 views | PlanetHonneywood | There was a spell at Rangers, when I thought Wilkins was as good as anything of the time. In fact, for a couple of seasons, he was as good as anything in a QPR shirt as he literally ran games. As for keepers: Burridge had flamboyant tendencies as I recall. Has anyone mentioned Stainrod?

Agree Super Simon Stainrod should be in the team Also Trevor Francis was quite skilful too albeit he did not play stacks of games for us

I was thinking along those lines too, then saw your post. You beat me to it. From players I have seen "live". Some of these may raise an eyebrow, but when on the days they played well, they were very good. GK: Smithies RB: Bardsley CB: Roeder CB: Carlisle LB: Assou Ekoutto RM: Kranjcar CM: Currie CM: Wilkins LM: Sinton FW: Tarrabt FW: Stainrod [Post edited 28 Apr 2020 15:24]

Ray was entertaining just warming up, just playing with the ball. I remember quite a few rival players watching with respect including Giggs

He also used to do a far higher percentage of defensive clearances as overhead kicks, certainly more than any other player as I remember

Dave Clement Frank Sibley Glen Roeder Clive Wilson Ray Wilkins Gerry Francis Tony Currie Adel Tarrabt Stan Bowles Rodney Marsh I couldn't think which 'keeper was the best with his feet, but Ian Watson looked reasonable in goal at Portsmouth! I doubt that many on here will know how skilful Frank Sibley was on the ball, another player whose career suffered from bad injuries.

Thanks for the insight on Sibley, Terry.

QPR Silky Skills XI on 19:33 - Apr 28 with 3213 views | Woog | Whoever else is in, Roy Wegerle gets my first pick. While he was with us I changed my routine to get to the ground early just to watch the jaw-dropping stuff he did in the warm-ups. Everyone remembers that goal against Leeds, but equally I remember an incident in an otherwise forgettable game - a ball went into orbit and it was falling like a meteor to the ground, with Roy underneath it; two defenders saw a chance to take him out and came steaming in from opposite sides; Roy trapped the ball perfectly, dropped one shoulder, then drifted off the other way with the ball stuck to his foot while the two defenders, wondering where the hell he'd gone, took each other out, with both of them on the deck and Roy half way towards goal. Mind blown. [Post edited 28 Apr 2020 19:34]

I don't think that's so surprising, him and Peacock were signed in a bit of an injury crisis, when that settled we had slightly too many central defenders. I never worked out why he didn't make it somewhere else though, you are right that he was class for us. [Post edited 28 Apr 2020 20:00]
