Just the 6 wickets!!! Mystifying why he didn't open the bowling this morning and only came on after the follow on was avoided. It will be interesting to hear the reasons especially as he bowled so well yesterday |
Absolutely. I always thought you should open the day with the bowlers most likely to take wickets. I could understand Archer bowling at Dowrich initially but either Anderson or Broad should have been on at the other end.

Saturday was supposed to be a wash out as well so hopefully it will throw it down tonight and clear up tomorrow.
After a poor opening spell by Archer and Woakes it was all England. Excellent innings by Root to up the tempo. Batting when you are ahead of the game is certainly easier.

West Indies tailed off badly, a combination of England reasserting themselves after their usual slow start, couple of poor decisions by Holder after winning the toss and putting England in, but most of all i suspect, going stir crazy after being in their bubble away from home for so long. So what does Root do? Brings himself on (with Bess) straight after lunch with 5 overs to the new ball. Starts conceding a shedful and concede 54 runs in the first 10 overs

To be fair that ball that got Stokes was a beauty. I get why he is batting so far out of his crease - negate the lack of pace and reduce his chance of being lbw.
Crawling will just invite pressure and men around the bat, especially with the leg spinners. Positive intent will eventually move them into run saving positions. | | | |

As long as I’ve watched Pakistan they have had 2 types of team. Talented and destructive or talented and self destructive. They could win this by 100 runs or lose it by 7 wickets. You never know [Post edited 8 Aug 2020 11:40]
