Two 'keepers on the bench . Madness courtesy of national treasure H Redknapp esq.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Park Ji-sung wearing the hoops and to be sitting in South Africa road next to 3 South Korean young women. One with a camera and mad screams whenever he was near the ball and fell over in typical QPR fashion. First K-Pop gig I ever went to.

Someone organising a pre-season friendly against Glasgow Rangers, (you couldn't make it up).
Rodney deciding he'd had enough of being kicked , grabbed the nearest Glasgow Rangers players hair, followed by a very fine right hander by Rodney, (he really could take care of himself), everything got a bit complicated after that, I think Rodders was sent off, (punching other players not necessarily a sending off offence in the 60's)
Do you know I'm not sure of the year? 1967/68 start of season?

It was definitely in July/August, could have been 1967, couldn't have been 1968 (Marsh broke a bone in his foot in pre-season) but I think it was 1969. It was the last time I stood in the lower School End (non-segregation in those days) and I remember saying to my mate at the start of the match, 'what have all these jocks got in their duffle bags?' We soon found out. They contained glass bottles of beer which they proceeded to drink before chucking the empties at us! Not surprisingly this caused panic and a mass migration to Ellerslie/South Africa Road stands - and that was before Marshy got a bit lively!!

Thanks Oldmisery, yes I remember he was out for the start of the season, but I think it was the one before, yes, interesting afternoon at Loftus Road, I was lurking on the half way line, where it was reasonably ok until about 15 minutes before the end.

I was in SAR, it was a hot day in 1969 and the surrounding fans drunkenly sang their team's praises to the loud chink of bottles. 'There's only one Rangers - and that's Glasgie Rangers!!', I recall.
Rodney got quite exercised about the robust tackles he was receiving and eventually lost it, lashing out with fists flying and then demonstrating the correct way to administer a Glasgow kiss to a Glaswegian. This all took place over on Ellerslie. Rodney didn't get sent off, but was substituted for his own protection.

It was 1969. Terry Venables had just joined us after the relegation season. I think the club were hoping it was the start of a regular fixture. Thanks Rodney! I think the ground was close to capacity.
From memory, the Glasgow version of Rangers had been due to play at Arsenal , but the MET didn't want the match to take place. Why they then allowed us to host them I know not!
It's still the best pre sesson match I've seen.
