Bolton again on 15:44 - Apr 2 by Toffeemanc | Things look to be getting worse for Bolton. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47787062 A part of me wants them to be wound up if only to serve as a lesson to other clubs who continually overspend which is basically cheating. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/bolton-wanderers-ordered-to-play-next-two-hom Next two games to be played behind closed doors, full refunds to be paid to those fans who have already purchased tickets, possible administration tomorrow with a 12 point deduction from the beginning of next season. Outside chance of liquidation as early as tomorrow...... Could it be much worse ?

I thought I heard on the wireless that EFL rules do not allow for League games to be played behind closed doors.

Without specific permission. Presumably they've got the go-ahed to do so whilst the farce rumbles on......

An SAG spokesman described it as “a deeply regrettable situation” but that “the law gives us no alternative but to issue a prohibition notice”. The EFL, which has to give consent to the matches taking place behind closed doors, said it hoped the matches will take place on the scheduled dates. Ipswich and Middlesbrough have already sold tickets to their supporters for the games which are in doubt, as have Bolton. The clubs involved are expected to offer full refunds if the matches are played behind closed doors.

I thought this was supposed to be being played behind closed doors? Have a missed a U-turn on this? Unless the IT system won't open the doors to let the players in.

...and it's back on again. For now. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2019/april/update-bolton-wanderers-v-ipswich-town/ So, it was on, then it was behind closed doors, then it was open to all, then it was off, now it's back on. And there's still 8 hours to kick-off. Good job they weren't due to play Sunderland - they would never have managed to resolve away support accommodation as well.

Simon Jordan says Bolton Wanderers’ prospective new buyer is EVEN WORSE than current owner Ken Anderson. English businessman Laurence Bassini ‘won’t have Bolton’s best interests in mind’, according to the talkSPORT pundit, who added: ‘just ask Watford fans’. Former Watford owner Bassini was revealed as the man set to save Bolton from impending liquidation during the club’s latest High Court hearing on Wednesday. Bolton chairman Ken Anderson is eager to sell the club But the news has not been welcomed with open arms due to Bassini’s chequered history, in terms of both his personal finances and his ill-fated spell in charge at Vicarage Road, which lasted all of 13 months. The 48-year-old has TWICE been declared bankrupt and was banned from owning an EFL club for three years in 2013 for alleged financial misconduct. He has since been cleared to return to football by the EFL and now looks set to take over at Bolton, having vowed to take the Trotters back to the Premier League. But former Crystal Palace owner Jordan believes his arrival could be bad news for the in-trouble club. “I know him, I dealt with him when I was trying to do a deal on Portsmouth in 2012,” he told talkSPORT host Jim White on Wednesday. “And I’m sorry, but if Bolton fans think they’ve got a problem with Ken Anderson, they’re going to have a bigger problem with Laurence Bassini. Bolton have been given extra time to pay their debts “It’s no surprise Ken has been keeping this under wraps, now that we know who it potentially is. “I think Bolton fans deserve better than this. Everyone deserves an opportunity to rehabilitate and reform, but this is not a guy who is going to go into Bolton with their bests interests in mind — just ask Watford fans. “I’ve dealt with him, I know what he was all about when we tried to a deal on Portsmouth. “It’s not sour grapes, I’ve got no issue with what he is or isn’t. “But, my God, if they [Bolton fans] think they’re out of the fire now, they’ve got no idea.”

He was an absolute nightmare but he was picking up a club on its knees financially after Vialli had burned through a shed load of money. But the expectation was that he would put his money in and it became clear quite quickly that he had none especially when he approached the council for an £8m loan to redevelop the stadium which was quickly turned down. Council's should never ever support a football club financially. Pozzo family is the best thing to ever happen to the football club and to some extent the town itself.

Bolton again on 19:00 - Apr 18 with 2246 views | electricblue | What i want to know is what is the fit for purpose test that potential owners have to pass!! This bassini guy must have put up red flag warnings with his original interest in bolton. And also how the hell did Anderson get to own Bolton when as said numerous times that he does not have the money to own a football club..

I would assume a fair amount of the test is self assessment i.e you ask the person if he is a fit and proper person and he ticks yes or no. He will show some current financial statements and again be asked some non - deep questions.
