Build more then. Far too many people released early, the speedboat killer got another 4 years for bottling someone, but what’s the point if it runs alongside his existing sentence, each crime should carry a set term and if you commit more than one then they run back to back.
Or maybe send less to prison.
Unless it’s a violent crime it’s pointless.
People are in prison for dealing Coke or breaking into warehouses. While dealing coke or thieving is obviously a bad thing, it’s society’s demand for bugle and hooky flatscreens that create the demand.

People on the left wing - not hard left, radical left, petrol bomb throwing left, just the left - will love the succinct yet powerful nature of the message here. It distills a lot of arguments into a very short video and was food for thought for me, at least.
The rest of you will give me pelters. I await my fate....
"I am closer to a Jamaican born brickie than I am Jacob Rees-Mogg. I've got more in common with a Polish hotel maid than I do with Nigel Farage. There's a lot of money and effort that goes into obscuring that simple truth."
Feck all to do with Brexit, which is about leaving the EU in which Labour promised they would do in their manifesto and why Labour is split now.
They can make all the promises in the world and go on about the Tories and how they would run the country but if they can't keep the promise to leave the EU they can't be trusted in a GE.

If you think dealing coke or heroin isn't a violent act, you are just deluding yourself. Once the stuff had been adulterated with god knows what and sold to the addicted then you have a possible death attached to the act every time. If you don't put these bastards inside then we will never heal this drug infected nation.
You might just sense that I have a strong position regarding this. That is because my son was given a 'free' sample outside school gates when he was 13. 24 years and at least 3 resuscitations later (just counting the ones where I attended) he is still a drug raddled mess.
The fact that you don't see a reason for putting drug dealers inside makes my guts churn with despair.
FFS get a grip on the situation and make the punishment for dealing drugs severe enough that the oiks that do it at least think twice about doing it again.

Luckily there are other QPR message boards available where such tyrannical moderation policies as “don’t be a fcking dickhead” and “wind it in a bit when talking to fellow QPR fans” don’t apply and you can presumably spew bile everywhere to your heart’s content.

I dont think we have heard the last of the Peterborough by- election . Hugely disproportionate number of postal votes in an area with form for vote rigging with the guilty parties still on the scene yesterday . If the EC publish the figures for postal/ in person votes and they are broadly similar then fair do,s we will have to wait for the new MP to be slung out for anti semitism .

Well, I've also got personal baggage that I’ve mentioned before . Sorry to hear of your strife anyway.
Didn’t say I didn’t want them to be put away, I just don’t think prison is the answer. There are other ways to detain offenders and halt their industry. See my above post about Portugal.

Thank you Essex. There was a time when I thought I could get him through his drug dependency but no longer. I'm old and worn out by it all. I'm also on my own as the wife had enough of him way back and cleared off. Now I'm just too old to handle the stress of the situation. The drugs have messed with his brain and he needs daily anti-psychotic pills to keep him sane. This works when he is off the street drugs but addicts don't remember to take anti-psychotics so he lapses into psychosis from time to time. then he really becomes a problem for society. Jail is of no benefit as drugs are even easier to obtain there and punishments handed out more severe than on the streets.
To be frank, all political parties should be ashamed for allowing drug gangs to run the country with so little to fear from politicians and the law. When my son first got into drugs I swore I would vote for any political party that put a pamphlet through my door that emphasized their commitment to getting tough on drugs. 24 years later I'm still waiting for any budding politician to mention it.
What I am certain of is that we, as a country, will never rid ourselves of the drug problem whilst we pussy foot around. Dealers need to be slapped down hard and all their properties and cash confiscated. If they have assets in the names of wives, girlfriends, and children etc. and they cannot prove the assets were acquired with legal earnings then they should also have those assets taken away. Finally, any dealer found guilty of selling a substance that kills or cripples even one person should serve a mandatory manslaughter sentence at the very least. And that sentence should have a stipulated lengthy period of time inside attached.
Rant over but it really did piss me off to see yet another politician (I believe Bazza is one) saying that drug dealing is a non violent crime and should be handled with kid gloves so to speak.
Treat the addicted and jail the dealers for a very long time. No privileges such as phones with which to run their empires inside either. If caught with a phone - automatic solitary and no visitation rights for the rest of the sentence. Get tough Baz for Christ's sake. Too many kids have died by politicians not doing a proper job of protecting society.
If you want to be a politician Baz, be one that society can look up to. Do not be afraid to speak up against the party line when it is craven. Better to walk away from it all than to be part of all that is currently sick in the political world.

I’ve got no desire to be a politician and disagree plenty with some of the stuff the party and leadership does.
For example, Labour has no plans to de criminalise drugs as far as I know . That was all me. I think you should read that article.

OK Baz, I got that wrong about you being in political circles. My apologies.
I knew all about the Portuguese way of dealing with drug addicts and I applaud what they are doing even if they are still relying on methadone as a replacement for heroin. That really doesn't seem to work. The Portuguese way is so much more civilized than the UK way. But that is only one part of the problem. The main problem is the proliferation of drug gangs in the UK. I remain convinced that we will never regain control of the drugs problem here until we strike at drug dealers with severity. Make them fear the law. Currently, these guys see jail time as a part of the price they have to pay to earn big money. Take away all their money, every cent, and make their prison time a damn sight harder than it currently is. It has to be so bad that they never want to return.

We’ll have to agree to disagree mate. I look at countries like the US where you can get life for dealing and all I can see is full prisons and the largest drug consumption per person in the Western world.

Second and final request to wind it in before threads are locked and/or deleted and permanent bans are handed out.
I’d honestly rather have no message board at all than one where we’ve got people posting in support of Tommy Robinson.
Et tu Clive ?
Yes the same person who dared to ask the ''Elephant in the room '' question during the shameful treatment of Chris Ramsey and Karl Henry, and was pilloried by the usual Guardianistas for doing so. Notable exception being Bazza (power to the people brother. )

For what its worth I would vote to close it down . Fixtures out soon ,contracts expiring ,signings to argue about . Thats what binds us not divides us . No one changes their mind (including me) .
