Very impressive support, they've sold 7000 tickets for Blackpool away on new years day as well. Plenty of money going to the Oystons

I wonder if we have made provisions for when they come to Spotland.
3600 tickets is clearly not enough, and our side of the ground is half empty.
Will we be giving then the Sandy/Pearl to accommodate their traveling fans?

Don't be silly, recent Club policy is to move kick-off time to manage numbers so they'll be moving kick-off to 10am.

Nah,

The sandy laners would not accept that nor should they.

3600 reduced probably to 3400 for health and safety bollox.

It is still a windfall for the club. I was once told by the recently departed director PH (RIP) that the selling out of the away stand for a huge away following is approx. £85k cash injection into the club.

We really need to be ready for a resurgent Bradford first on the 29th!!!

Also it shows the financial importance of retaining league 1 status.

Sunderland and Bradford type clubs filling the away end rather than Forest green rovers and Cheltenham.

I would give them the Pearl street leaving 4000 for home fans. It would also be a good way to gauge atmosphere. In the Sandy. This could also be done by shutting sandy and leaving Pearl open and that would leave 4500 for home fans more than enough. Fantastic way to get money into the club and we won't get a League game with a big away attendance like that for a long time.

How many does the sandy lane accommodate? 1500?

5000 away supporters would be good but I just don't think we can dump week in week out regulars out of there normal spots on a match day.

A PR disaster I recon should that happen.

Plus home fans behind both goals is pretty unique in football it must give us a better chance on these bigger occasions?

Sheffield United when we won 2-0 with The Holty cameo springs to mind - great day that was.

Depends on what was meant by maximising income. We know that fans and tradition have been shafted recently in favour of short term profit.

But there are lots of us who have bought SL season Tickets because we prefer to stand, so why should we be forced to either not attend or sit down?

If the club wants to accommodate additional away fans then they can do so in the Pearl St. The Sandy Lane is the only place to stand up to watch the game, as is the wish of the people in there. The Pearl Street can be moved together IF the need arises, if some of the people in that stand so wish they could move to the Main Stand for that game.

Home fans behind each goal is exactly why I have a season ticket in the Pearl Street as I struggle to stand for a long period. It also has more leg room than the main stand as I have found when Checkatrade games have had the Pearl Street closed. Why should we be inconvenienced?

Folk can't stomach being moved for cup games. Doubt moving them from their reserved seats for this marquee fixture would be popular.

How about giving them in addition to Wilbutts Lane give Sunderland sections U and V of Pearl Street plus some of W. Segregation netting in place then home fans. Any home fans who have been turfed out their seats. Can reserve any available home seat, including one in the main stand, at no extra cost. If they opt to go in The Sandy they get a voucher for the kiosk maybe.

They would never get planning permission. Houses on Wilbutts lane would be denied their right to sunshine.

This is not the time for bickering.

Was it a genuine idea 💡 of yours, or were you joking about the stand?
Either way it cheered me up, and was very funny.

Not sure if it is Peter Jones the Dragon who you should see, or Peter Jones the former Rochdale GP who you would be better off seeing, I am convinced the former would invest in your idea, as he is such an astute businessman, failing that the latter might have been able to help, or at least his successor at his former surgery.

Merry Christmas, and a Dale New Year.
