The lure of the premier league 22:26 - Dec 13 with 2082 views | stircrazyjack | The following isn't all the swans owners / managers fault but they must take a fair amount of blame. I am not sure I want to continue watching us have less than 30% possession against all the big boys like so far this season, Spurs away, Chelsea away, Man Utd home, Citeh Home, Gunners away etc This isn't football as I remember , Years ago the sides near the bottom generally gave the top teams a good game and had a go even if they ended up losing by 2 or 3, Tonight was awful, embarrassing and all but a full surrender. The financial advantage the big boys have over the likes of us is a big factor in the the issues above and that for me is the issue. If and when other clubs with the potential to join the current big boys ( Currently around six clubs) Can recruit like Chelsea etc then that's another set of games of attack v defence that doesn't interest me in the slightest. The likes of Everton, West Ham and Newcastle could well become to rich for us to compete with in the near future. I can't be the only swans fan who has little interest in defence v attack for X amount of games per season?. The poor signings last 2 seasons have not helped and Paul clement is somewhat over cautious and negative which is also a factor and he has appeared to have coached any flair and confidence out of a lot of our players. Long time season ticket holder just not enjoying the premier league last few seasons and not just despite we have been poor, I quite often don't watch the other games on MOTD as other smaller clubs are struggling to give the rich clubs any resemblance of a match. If things continue to evolve as they are in the coming seasons then I predict a lot of fans of the mid size and smaller clubs will walk away from the sport as it is becoming non competitive in many games. Our game tonight against admittedly a very good Citeh side reminded me of a third round cup tie between an old division one team and a Poor div 3 or 4 side very much like our game v Liverpool in 1990 ( might be wrong on the year ) Am I Wrong?

The lure of the premier league on 08:55 - Dec 14 with 1853 views | SPboy | Your analogy about watching us last night as being a poor div 3 or 4 side v an old div 1 side is very apt, that is exactly what it looked like. The fact that we are even in the same league with that level of performance is quite embarrassing. As for PC coaching flair out of the players ... not sure about that. Silk purse & pig's ear come to mind. who are our flair players, do we actually have any ?? - Bony ? - maybe with some service he can be clinical - Dyer ? about 4-5 years ago, even then he had no end product I am afraid our transfer policy has caught up with us with a vengeance. Weak managerial appointments have seen us slip to becoming a basket case much like Sunderland, Villa, Blackburn, Bolton before us - Monk, Guidolin, Bradley - just cheap options without any pedigree - owners who don't really know what they are doing The game last night reminded me of watching us play in the old 1st div in our second season under Toshack. We played Liverpool at the Vetch in the FA cup & lost 0-4. Just the season before had outplayed Liverpool twice, we were robbed at Anfield by 2 penalties in a 2-2 draw & we beat them at the Vetch thanks to Leighton & Robbie. Our fall these last 2 season has been almost as dramatic as it was back in the early 80s - the problem then money, the problem now unambitious club & DoF unwilling to invest in the team Man City may have improved since we entered the PL, but boy how bad are we - this squad has struggling Championship side written all over it & you can't blame Clement for that
